Goldfish Rebirth

Recommended Posts

I am back to keeping goldfish again.

Nothing special but 2 normal goldfish commonly sold at LFS here.

Here are the 2 beauties...

I have a white background which makes them "glow" when they swim near it.

My full tank shot might turn some of you off. I directly converted my planted shrimp tank to a goldfish tank after removing all the moss in it. Let me see how it goes first.

Currently doing salt treatment for Ich. The remaining of the plants might all die and I might just go barebottom removing all the soil.

both looks the same from the top. Not sure if both are fantail instead. Both have high hump though..

I would say both are ryukin. The one Alex is talking about (the lower one in the original picture, right, Alex?) is what I (as a breeder) would call a "lower quality" ryukin because the hump isn't quite as well defined as the other guy.

However, I think these guys are both gorgeous! Just because they aren't of breeding potential doesn't mean they aren't great! And think of it this way, the best breeders don't even use their show fish for breeding...you don't want to use fish with extreme qualities for brood stock...it only encourages mutations.

You're right. That was the one I wasn't sure if she would be classified as a ryukin, but would definitely agree with you that they are both gorgeous. I'd happily keep them both! :P

The one on the lower left have a yellowish tint over the white. Hope the Ich will go away soon...
