Bleach In Tap Water

Recommended Posts

I just found at that my tap water is treated with sodium hypochlorite (bleach) and the water I receive contains a concentration of less than 2 ppm (according to the regional water authority). Is this a a problem? Does prime neutralize sodium hypochlorite?

It is chlorine, just another term. :) Yes, Prime takes care of it.

Thanks! I was reading up on this and online and I found a useful/interesting article for whoever is interested:

Basically, tap water can be treated with chlorine gas (Cl2), sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) which is a liquid, or chloramines. So I got worried because on the Prime bottle it only says "neutralized chlorine, chloramines, and ammonia" :P I guess they use chlorine and sodium hypochlorite interchangeably (like you said) :)

Yup it's just chlorine, you wouldn't want water without it ;)

At least not in America.

I miss the fresh, clean ground water we had in Austria :(
