Embarrassing 5 Week Old Fry

Recommended Posts

At 5 weeks the scales are starting to be visible.

These pics were taken 4 hours after feeding...

Here's a few embarrassing moments

Group shot! There's one that is more pale than the rest.

Couple shots of the tale. These are the only good ones I got.

They only stop those propellers when they're eating.

Thanks for all your comments. They do poo together. Parents often do capture the most embarrassing moments on film. The real parents are red/black orandas.

there's so much poo in the tank every night. I'm just waiting for then to get bigger so I can turn on the filter. I can't stand seening all of that on the bottom.

What kind of filter do you have? Since mine were about 3 weeks old, I ran a Whisper in tank filter with 90gph in their 50qt tub. I just wrapped the whole thing with a sheet of Marineland Rite Size Undergravel filter floss and rubberbanded it, so the fish don't get sucked in. I doubt this will do much good with actually taking poop off the bottom of the tank, but it does a fantastic job keeping the parameters in check :)

They look great!

Make sure you are siphoning out all the poo! It shouldn't be sitting on the bottom of your tank, that will just let it give off ammonia. :)

A little turkey baster works great for that, or a small needle-less syringe.

I know about this but I have no idea why I didn't apply it. That totally escaped me. THX!

I currently have a sponge filter and the poo collects on the bottom while I'm at work. I do siphon it out and do water changes regularly.

I know what you mean but on baby fish it's cute. There's always photoshop!
