Fin And Scale Abrasion

Recommended Posts

about a week ago my goldfish got stuck behind my jewel background (now removed) and has suffered minor scale abrations (just scale loss, not flesh damage) and major fin abrasion. His tail fin is down to 1/3 length on one side and mostly lost his fins on that side. He's acting healthy, swiming and eating fine. the fin loss hasn't seemd to change his swimming.

the fins have started to turn thick white at edges with black patches downh the fin. I guess this is the healing process.

Will his fins and scales grow back and is there anything I can do to help.

water conditions fine. 3 small/medium fish in a 30 gal.

Thanks

Poor little guy! :o

I'd keep the water absolutely pristine and don't miss any water changes. I'd also keep a sharp eye on him and be sure and post if any problems show up. Many times good water quality does miracles with the healing process.

Good luck!

Oh dear! That sounds nasty! Perhaps adding salt will help guard against infection while the fin is healing. If you can post a pic it would be good to see - just to be sure.

Keep an eye out for any redness appearing.
