Your wakin looks like it might be a fantail cross though, even if it is, its a great LFS find. You're very lucky.

cute! :heart i never saw a calico wakin before though, she looks very nice with such long tail fins.

she's lucky to get out of that lfs and into a great home :exactly

it does, but it is 'webed' at the top. so not really good quality, but still a double tail.

In australia we call fantails with fused top caudal lobe 'nymphs' (kinda like that!), maybe you could extend that to wakins with this tail defect as well? :blink:

I thought "nymphs" referred to defective specimens of double-tailed breeds sporting only a single tail?

I had the honor of meeting a pair of Wakins on Independence Day a number of years back. They looked like Commons with Moor-like tails.

Its not a wakin, more likely al shubunkin cross fantail. I have a couple in my pond.

Nice fish though :)

All your fish look great. The new one is really different. I agree it looks like a Shubukin with a partly fanned tail.

well, thats good to know... i wasnt really sure it seemed to match the wakin discription the best. he wasnt marked at the store either... :)
