How Big Do They Have To Be To Sex Them?

2 posts in this topic

i still can't tell if my fish are male or female despite what I have read and the pictures I have seen. Sometimes my fish look like they have innies, sometimes outies, I can't tell half the time. How big do they need to be before you can sex them. I have 3 that are 1.5 inches and 2 that are 3 or more inches in length . Is that big enough to tell? Should I take them out of the water and turn them over to check?

I think it has to do with how much experiance you have sexing them. Personally I cannot tell on a 2" fish, not usually anyway ;)

Once they get to be 3-3.5" I can usually tell for certain. Although there have been one or two that have fooled me.
