Im Was So Mad!

21 posts in this topic

Yesteday morning i rang up a 'FOCUS DIY' shop. beacuse it was recomended by someone because ive been struggling to get bubble eyes and someone said they sell them there.

I said "hello could you tell me if you have any bubble eyes in stock" and she said "yes we do"

Me and my mum had never been 2 this diy store b4. it took us a HOUR AND A HALF to find the place! we had to ask people were it was aswell! we had used more than half a tank of petrol !

THEN 2 TOP IT OFF ... when we FINALLY got there i cudnt see any bubble eyes anywhere! so i said to the lady i rang earlyier about the bubble eyes and she said yes there over there. and she pointed to the BLACK MOORS! i was sooooo MAD!

i cudnt believe that she worked with fish but had no clue what she was going on about !!!!

Me and my mum looked at the other animals -

All the rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamster and mice were all scratching themelfs ( they probably had fleas ) also there was 1 rabbit were his fur was all coming out it was all red he looked in a horribe state! I felt like crying :cry1 i wanted to take him home, but i already have a rabbit and it wouldnt be fare on him.

All the animals were really hot, all stretched out gasping for air because the shop was so hot.

The fish looked in ok condition. but as i always say how can shops let animals get that condition? i would never like my pet to be in that condition for people to see let alone having 2 buy them like it!!!!!!!!

My mum is going to ring the rspca (people in the uk will no what that is) because it was just horrible in there. Its made me feel sick.

Now i no, I will never go back there again! :cry1

A while back, when I didn't know what a "bubble eye" was, I would have thought that a telescope was a bubble eye.

You would think a pet shop employee would know the difference, but as most of us have experienced, that is not always true.

There terrible thing is that you had to go so far, spend so much time and petrol (we say "gas" here in the US) and then be disappointed on top of it! :(

I am soo sorry. I asked my lfs to special order my panda for me and they did it. Of course not any of the big stores -- but just a local guy. Had you tried that ?

yea many pet store employees are clueless with fish, thats why I do my own research. also I know not all species of fish are available in every area. I dont think ive seen bristol shubunkins, Wakins, telescope eyes in colors other than black or calcio.

a true bristol shubby is a show fish, chances are you will never see one in a larg echain store like that.

as for the telescopes it just sounds like bad luck.

The pet departement in my local Focus got closed down because it was so terrible. Must be a  common theme

I like pet shops who use scientific names for fish (this mostly happens with my tropicals) because it makes be believe that they know their stuff.

Tanya - I hope the RSPCA will help. I phoned them once aout a neighbour who was keeping a cat on a flat varanda (balcony) in all weathers. They said there was nothing they could do unless it was hurt. Hurt feelings don't seems to count.

Have you consdered writing (it's always better in writing) to Focus DIY's head office?

Quick cure is supposed to work and work quite well but I've noticed that it doesn't work in all cases but it does in a lot of them. Don't blame the employee too much. Perhaps your fish was just too far gone to begin with.

good luck with the rspca - it's always worth making a complaint to focus as well. i do get so mad when i see animals kept in poor conditions..it really gets me down when people just can't be bothered to keep animals comfortable and healthy....bah humbug!!

i had a bad experience with the rspca too. i called them about a deer trapped in a school field near a road so they couldnt really release it. so we called the rspca and a nice lady said if it is still there the next day to call them back and they will do it themselves.

anyway, next day came and sure enough it was still there only the boys on that field were throwing stones and things at it. so this time there was even more reason to call them, so i text my mum to phone them again and a grumpy old woman answered and said they couldnt do anything about it unless it was actually hurt and that even though we were told that someone would move it, this lady ignored what the other one had told us. for gods sake, their name stands for the 'royal society for the PROTECTION of CRUELTY to animals'. now, im sorry, if they are not protecting an animal from cruelty then they dont have the right to call themselves that.

they make me so mad! so in the end one of the teachers thought it was better the deer made a run for it through an open gate than get beaten to death but it got run over by a car and killed the driver too. they could have done something about it!!! grrrrr!!!!!

:o

That's horrible! it was good of you to phone though, at least you tried. I think that agencies like that are just set up for image and nothing to do with actually helping animals. The bureaucracy stops them from doing things in an emergency because they have so many procedures.
