If it was a wakin he would look like a common goldfish with the twin tail.

Maybe butterfly??

XD not a panda and not a butterfly

butterflys have tails that when you look from the top they appear to look like a big butterfly :)

pandas are black and white

I would say inbetween a fantail and a ryukin :)

Eugh lol :D it's a fantail, nothing more, nothing less. Fantails have quite a wide range of body shapes and fin length, but they're all fantails. A ryukin would have a prominent hump.

XD doesn't mean it can't be a mix of it, could have ryukin somewhere in the family as they are compatiable for breeding together. I still say its a mix :)

I'll say fantail. There is nothing in the pic to suggest ryukin

:) I would also guess fantail!

He looks just like a friend's fantail. :heart

No hump for it to be a ryukin! He is very, very cute! :exactly

Sheesh! Fantail! Possibly a young oranda if his head looks a little bumpy, but Golem's right, fantails come in all shapes and sizes...just no wen, hump, telescope eyes, bubbles, missing dorsals, pearls, etc.

lol Riz, i would hate to question you, but i do believe in this instance you are wrong....

there is such a fish called a Man-Yu which is Intermediate between Fantail and Ryukin, smooth dorsal contour and forked tail. i know because i have one :)

I'm aware of the Man-Yu, and I'm also aware that you copied man-yu's description almost word per word from the BAS website :D . "smooth dorsal contour": every goldfish has smooth dorsal contour (except if it's kinked/bumpy) & "forked tail" : almost every goldfish has it (except for veiltail, butterfly tail, and tosakin)

The fish in question is, however, does not have any hump of any kind to be considered a man-yu or a ryukin. It is my opinion also, that the man-yu and the fantail is sometimes so very hard to distinguish; especially in lower-quality fish where they all basically look the same; that it's almost pointless to differentiate between the two.

BAS mentioned that they don't have a breed standard for man-yu, and will never likely to have one, as well as GFSA also doesn't have any breed standard for man-yu.

hm, i think its a matter of opinion as to wether it has a hump or not. i believe it does, but as i said, its a matter of opinion :)

it is too 'hunped in my opinion to be a fantail. Although the man-yu might be an 'accidental' breed, it is none-the-less still a different breed. :)

i dont think you can deny there is a difference in body shape...

as you mentioned, they do come in different shapes, but not, i believe to this extent :)
