Goldfish scales

Recommended Posts

Is it just me, I have two calico ranchus and both have unsmooth scales. I also seen a lot of calicos online with the same thing. Is it a calico thing or was I just unfortunate?

I would assume so! Unless for some reason the scales were "pine coning" where all of them were sticking out, I wouldn't be too concerned. :)

Just like the two pictures above. I notice mostly calicos and sakura (hope I'm spelling that right) mostly has them scales.

The scales all appear perfectly flat.  Are you talking about the shiny ones?

Yes, it somehow seems like it's sticking out. I guess those are just the mixture of the two scales?

Yes, the matt scales appear barely defined, and the metallic scales look like sequins against the matt background.

Thanks, all this time I thought the fishes has scale damage or imperfection.
