The left eye is much larger than the right and seems  squashed or oval shaped instead of round. It almost appears the eye is grwing too big for the socket.  He has/had no fluid buildup and the eye has been noticeably bigger for 6 months or more, and appears to be very slowly increasing in size. The cornea is conical shape instead of the spherical shape of the right eye. The right eye appears nomal. The left side of his face is asymetrical to the right as can be seen in the first picture.
  • * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Isnt an overly active fish, but is zoning out or resting /floating more than he used to. Otherwise normal and attentive when i am near the tank.

I would if those are the only two fish :) In the tank Epsom salt the tank. If they aren't I would do a QT with Epsom salt.

I would do about 4-5 days to see if the swelling would go down :)

Ok, i decided to treat the whole tank as QT tub space is difficult this week and ive noticed Bodgies eye is a little puffy too.  So Ive done a 90 % WC and added 2.625 teaspoons of epsom per 400L which is 1/8th teaspoon per 5 gal. Ive also added prazi in again too, their last round. Ill take photos in a few days to monitor their progress, thankyou Koko!

Ok, they have had a week of epsom and then a back to back 200% wc and three days just clean water.

I dont think it has affected p0dges eye at all.  The epsom did make everyone very swimmy and happy though!

Heres todays photos and a video.

Sorry Ree, eyes are tough.  Very little can be done unless there is an underlying and treatable condition.  Despite the slight pop eye he looks good to me as well.

Thanks Taryl.

It hasnt presented as normal popeye infection with a fluid build up. It kinda just looks like his eye has grown too big for the socket. Its been really really slow growing too.

Im happy to leave him be if theres not much we can do and just make him as comfy as possible untill i think it is going to be causing him pain. Hes such a sweet baby.
