Water While Making Gel Food

5 posts in this topic

I'm a tad confused on something and hope you all can shed a little light. I've watched several you tube videos watching people prepare their gel food. Some use distilled water and others used tap. If tap water is dangerous to our babies, woudnt injesting it cause them harm or does the boiling or microwaving of the water remove the harmful toxins. I really feel like an idiot asking this. Thanks in advance.

You can use tap. I've never had any troubles with it.

I think the extreme temps from either microwaving or boiling on the stove (which ever way you do it) eliminates the problem :)

When making gel food, you only have chlorine/chloramine as a bad thing to worry about in your tap water. You can simply dechlorinate the water you use for complete safety.  Heat and binding to organic chemicals also contribute to making the chlorine safe, and both of those work when you make gel food.

I fully cook oatmeal and carrots when making gel food so the water I use to set the gel has boiled.
