chickens

3 posts in this topic

So, I'm working on some adjustments to the portable house the mostly grown chicks shelter in at night, and it sounds like some thing somewhere is dying.  Gawd awful noise, and it keeps repeating about every minute, but I can't quite locate it...it seems to be right at my feet.  There are three placid birds sitting around my feet.  Nothing amiss there, but one of them, a roo.

Learning to crow.

I always forget how weird those first efforts sound.

We have several roosters. They learn fast and you get used  to it.

I like the sound. We live in a noisy area.  I'd rather listen to roos than bass, souped up diesels, The music from the bar, car alarms, etc.  Sometimes I think an outdoor aviary full of society's unwanted screeching cockatoos would make a good sound screen (and a little revenge).

I am planning to get some pet birds.  Still researching what would be a good fit.  (a few 'tiels, maybe, no cocoatoos.)
