Fun thread.  Love the pics.

Have been bird obsessed for the last month or so.  Never heard of Alex and Dr. Peppercorn (spell?).  Well, now I about them.  I'm thinking a cockatiel, maybe a pair at some point down the road. NOT ready for a grey!

As some of you know, I keep chickens.

I once bought a home that came with zebra finches - the cage was built in.  I didn't like that built in cage - it was permanently dirty and not cleanable.  I made them another, but then felt bad, and mostly let them fly around the house.  Until a careless moment one fine spring day...  I expect everyone can guess the end to that story!

There was an old man a few houses down the street from where I grew up.  He was known as The Bird Man.  One of my earliest memories was going to his house to see some newly hatched chicks.   I remember cages everywhere.  The birds were all small, I think budgies and 'tiels, but could be wrong.  He was talking with my mother about a recent prospective customer.  The lady kept insisting on a guarantee that any bird she bought from him would sing (or speak, or whistle - can't remember).  He refused to sell anything to her because he didn't think she would love the bird.
