Lateral line damage. Can it heal?

11 posts in this topic

Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone has any info on the lateral line, how it works & if it repairs itself?

I have seen a video regarding 'curing SB' and can't help but think it might have been something else

any chance of more information as to how the lateral line came to be damaged? and if we can get photos or a video of it? perfer a video, since the lateral line plays a big part in the fish understanding it's surrounds.. ie, like whiskers on a cat.

it really does depend on whether it is injury or infection... -injury by means of being stuck in an ornament or under driftwood etc..

if infection, was it caused by parasites? ie, is other stock where the fish were purchased/received from showing similar symptoms?

can it be any of the following? this is why history and media is mostly important.

HITH/LLD/FHLLE or MHLLE

HITH - Hole In The Head disease
LLD - Lateral Line Disease
FHLLE - FreshWater (HITH) Lateral Line Erosion
MHLLE - Marine (HITH) Lateral Line Erosion

there is no simple answer to your inquiry.
