Distaff Posted July 19, 2016 I have two tubs that are out of reach of any reasonably safe extension cord set-up for filtration/air. I compensate by under stocking, weekly water tests, and a 20% daily water change. So far, so good. A couple of years ago, I tried a solar pump, and a solar aerator. They were the cheapest ones Amazon had for sale, and lasted all of about six weeks. Amazon delivered a Beckett solar air pump today. This one is a bit higher end. Still has mixed reviews. We'll see. Anyone know of a brand that has lasted for years? I should just put in a real solar system, but just haven't put the focus on batteries, inverter, etc. Big project. Speckles Posted July 19, 2016 I haven't had any experience with solar pumps etc. But it all sounds very interesting and I would also love to know more about the best options with solar. Solar could be an option for me when we finally move to our new property
Distaff Posted July 20, 2016 Like the two that broke, this little one is just plug-and-play. Couldn't be easier to get going. It is not based on a battery, so when the sun goes down, the bubbler stops.
