New ranchu has "stubs" for front fins. Seems fine though! Can this be corrected?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I picked up a new Ranchu yesterday, hes pretty large and looks really healthy. However, his front fins are mal-formed. One is just a stub and the other is really small, one has no webbed fin and the other has just a little bit.

My question is, is there anything i can do to promote this to heal? It may not even be "injured" and may just be a birth defect. If so then it's probably a permanent condition correct? They definitely aren't wounds.

Probably a birth defect and that won't change.

Lol - cute. Since the fins don't seem to exist at all, I'd say birth defect. Ranchu don't swim super well to begin with... So hopefully he can move okay.

PS - His caudal fins look a bit malformed too. Cute little guy.
