sponge filter?

whats better a sponge filter or reg filter that hangs on back of tank?

It depends on your purpose.  A sponge filter can supply excellent biofiltration, but it won't suck up any debris from the bottom of the tank.  It takes up a lot of space in the tank and doesn't look very good.  It provides safe filtration for goldfish fry.

 

The HOB (hang on the back) filter provides good mechanical filtration usually with a sponge and separate biofiltration.  You can clean these easily and quickly.  

 

You can use one of each if you wish.

Agree. I have both on my tank. I don't thimk they look bad. Mine have a pretty powerful air pump supplying both of them so it also helps agitate the surface of the water.

They both have their advantages. Me, I have sponge pre-filters over my Aquaclear intakes, so I get the best of both worlds.

yes speckles, I looked all over the net finally found a brass fitting that fits small sink faucets, ill try that see if it works if not I will keep searching, lol

 

it says works with python spill and fill so hopefully it works

I have HOB, sponge filter and wet/dry filter sump. My water is perfect!
