Advice on feeding the visually impaired fish

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Prospero and Celestine are bonding and he's out of hiding now. He likes to swim with Celestine but now I realize he can't see the food. When he was hiding in the back of the tank I just made sure the food was back there with him and he found it on the bottom. Now the food floats right by him and he doesn't see it. You can tell he smells it and gets excited, every once in a while he'll catch some on it's way down, but it's rare. Was thinking I should just make sure to feed him in the same place in the tank then he'll know where to look on the bottom. Any thoughts or advice is welcome.

That sounds like a good plan to start. You could also teach Celestine to hand-feed, so that she is more interested in you than Prospero and he has more time to look for his dinner.

That's a good idea. I've been trying to get Celestine to hand feed anyway because she's so friendly and it's fun :D
