Water from my land

Recommended Posts

Hey Peeps,

So, I've been thinking. My house has been in my family for 3 generations. My Grandparents used to own the house before they passed away. All this time there has been water seeping through the garden and down to a drain at the bottom. My Grandad had a sewage company out who tested it who said it was not contaminated. He also had the tap water company out who told him it was not tap water, it was spring water from the land. Now under my garden is pipe work which my Grandad fitted to channel the water . This is leaking, what I'm thinking of doing is digging down on my boundary and building some sort of container under ground that I could fill up and pump through my pond.

There is that much water draining into the lad that when I built my last pond, when I went in for the night after digging a six foot hole. I went out the next morning to find the hole 3 feet deep in water. Every 24 hours the hole seemed to fill with about 1000 litres.

What do you guys think about my idea? do you think it's feasible?  As I would basically have free fresh water on tap (or land).

Yes, I think your should go for it,  but do have the water retested.  Wow! A spring-fed fish pond.

Here, I would contact my state's agricultural extension service and ask about having my water tested for suitability for aquaculture.  They would give me a list of approved labs and what I should test for.  I have no idea what to do "over there."    :idont

To be honest I think that it's rain water. It runs constant but after the rain it gets much faster. In the high summer it slows right down.
