Too Big

Recommended Posts

I ordered from big als and some of the food is too big for them, is their a way to make it smaller like blend it or just wait until they get big, its expensive food, don't want it to go to waste, the rest is fine.

crunch it up gently with a mortar and pestle, or a rolling pin and plastic baggie.

If you haven't opened the food and the expiration date is reasonable, then you can also store it in a cool, dry place and wait until they are larger to start feeding it.

Crushing it between two spoons also works. ;)

You can also soak it.  I regularly give the fry in the duckweed tub a few koi pellets.  They immediately attack, trying to nibble bites from these huge hunks of food.  (So cute.)  As the food softens, they can get larger bites without ever swallowing something large and dry.

Or just grind it up and mix it into a batch of gel food?

Or a hammer. ;)

Or chew it up a bit and spit it in.

I tried the hammer, it would take forever, lol I did use the rolling pin and that worked great. I also soak the food for them.

Spit it in!  No way!  It would be too tasty to spit out!  ;)
