she's a scaredy bird :( she will never like the shower/sink but she will always love to be misted :rofl

Oh yes! My Parakeets, Love Birds, and Cockatiels LOVE to have been misted with the spray bottle. I'd hold the bottle high over their heads and say "Misty misty time" and they'd get so excided, and fluff up their feathers with their wings spread out waiting for it to rain a nice fine mist on them. Then they chirped and talked softly as they happily preened before finally taking a nap.

He is so pretty and really the perfect color for you :D

I'm so happy that you were able to get him :)

Do you know why he ended up in rescue?  What is his life expectancy?  Will he be your one and only bird or do you think you will get more in the future? How the heck did you manage to get Mike to agree to this?!?!?!

Sorry for all the questions.  You know I like to ask all the questions :D

Thanks Mollz :D

He was in rescue because he was bought by a college student and she didn't have time for him and gave Leto to her mom, but she wasn't really fulfilling his needs either. So, she drove him up to St. Louis so he could be in foster/rescue :)

Life expectancy is 30-40 yrs :) but he's already 8.

I promised Mike this would be our only bird. It was part of our negotiation of Leto. No more pets :teehee

It required lots of begging and pleading and a touch of arguing :lol

They are supposed to have yearly appointments. Plus it's good to have them familiar with the vet just in case a problem creeps up. If she were mine i would. :idont

Aubrey, you should read H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald.  I know Leto is not a hawk, :) but I think you would like the book.

ill have to take her soon. My mom just has a crazy work schedule and there aren't really any avian vets around here I don't think. I'll have to call around and see who actually examines birds. I'll be able to go on my time when I get my license :) so I don't think waiting 30 days will hurt :)

Ah! The shower stories make me remember when I used to bring Snowball (my budgie) in the shower with me. She would get mad if I didn't let her come too. :rofl

I miss having birds! So I will live vicariously through you and Leto, if that's okay! :rofl

Yeah, she is but I take her out for a soak about every 10 days because I'm worried about her getting dehydrated. At that time I also offer her food :Scoff: so me's she eats and sometimes not :P she's so loosing weight :(
