swim free, Wakka

Recommended Posts

I guess there is a first thing for everything. During the 5 1/2 years I had goldfish, today was the first time I had to euthanize one.

Wakka joined my flock 3 1/2 years ago. He was a problem child from the beginning, having floating issues ever since I got him.

Over the years he got worse, went through at least four bouts of dropsy which we battled successfully but lately he had gotten much worse quickly.

Today I found him extremely pineconed, with popeye, and unable/unwilling to eat MMs. I took this as a sign, especially considered his swim bladder was pretty much shot and he could barely leave the bottom of his long term QT tub anymore anyway.

He went quickly and peacefully, it certainly was his time.

Goodbye my beautiful Wakka and your adorable grumpy face.

I'm sorry, Fang. He certainly had the best care possible with you, and you gave him many healthy years. I think you made the right choice. :hug

I'm so sorry for your loss Fang and having to make the decision to euthanize. You took such special care of Wakka and his special needs. I think I remember you posting a thread of his New Home a while back that you had set up for him.
