Could you HOB owners please take out your measuring tapes and help out...
My tank rim is 1,18 inches (3 cm)
and looks like this...

Could any of the HOB filters out there fit on this?

It's ok if it doesn't perfectly, but of cause it should work....

Hello. The measurement's for my Penguin 350 are 15L X 5.25W X 7.25H.

The measurement's for my Aquaeon 55/75 are 12.9L X 6.6W X 8.4H.

Penguin 400: 15.75 inches / 40cm long
7.5 inches / 19.05cm wide
10.25 inches / 26.035cm tall

The penguin will only accommodate a lip of about 1 inch max as far as I can see. My Aqueon 55/75 (measurements above) looks like it should accommodate a tank rim of about 1.5 inches, so I think that one will work out for you. This is what it is. It is 400GPH, which will accommodate a tank up to 40 US Gallons, or 150L, properly stocked with goldfish :)

I believe the information Sonne wants is whether your HOB would fit over the wide lip on her aquarium. So you need to measure the underside of the part that fits over the rim of the aquarium as Justin did.

Sonne, what is the volume of your aquarium?

Yes correct I need to know if the underside of the part that fits over the rim of the aquarium could fit my tank.

The volume is 66 gallon (250L) 39 x 20 x 20 inches

All my HOB filters are on my 30 gallon tanks and smaller. I measured them and they are about an inch and smaller on the filter overflow part underneath that hangs it on the tank rim. I'm not sure but I think the bigger the filter is for the gallons your tank is, the underside hang on part is bigger also.

I have aqueons on all my tanks ranging from a 10 gallon to the 90 gallon. The lip on my 90 is pretty big and on the bottom of the filter has a wheel that u spin to stabalize it against the glass so it doesnt lean back. I dont think you should have any issues and if so you can always return it. Just one warning for some reason the propellor gets stuck so you have to go and set it right but other than that they are great HOB filters imho.

My AC50s look like they only accommodate 1" at the rim, but perhaps the AC70s will accommodate more? Please consider that my filters are all all older (1: 10+ years, 1: 6+ years and one I bought used of unknown age) and AC may have made some design changes since I bought them. :idont

My largest HOB is an AquaClear 70. It won't fit that wide rim.

Sonne, I'm sure there are more people with large HOBs who will check in, but you should be able to get this information from the companies that make these filters.

The most popular by far are Aqueon, Aquaclear, and Marineland Emperor. There is also Tetra Whisper.

Could you take a picture of where you get this nummer from?

Does this Mean that the AC110 filter could hang on a rim that is 3/8 inches wide?

Sorry my english is not the best, hope this helps better to understand my request.

I could contact the companies but one thing is what the manufacturers says could work another is what could work in real life...

Here are the measurements for that area given so far:

Aqueon 55/75 - 1,5"

Aquaclear 50 - 1"

Aquaclear 70 - Less than 1,18"

Aquaclear 110 - 1,375"

Marineland 350 - 4" but I'm not quite sure of this because my larger Marineland 400 is smaller. This information may be incorrect.

:) :) :)
