It's my turn :)

Well I've been converted :)

I am going to set up a pond on my deck for the spring/summer.

I am so excited! Planning on getting a 50 or 70 gallon stock tank and building a filter. I'm not much of a DIY'er but I think I can do it.

Hoping to get to the farm store today to look at the tanks :)

Stay tuned :)

And you are one of the lucky ones that can see it in person :)

That's so cool! You should post pics when you're done! :D

There will be many pics along the way :)

I will still keep fish inside. It's waaaaaaay to cold here in the winter to keep an above ground pond and I am not able to dig one into the yard. I will keep the 55 up and running with 1 or 2 fish in there at all times to keep it cycled and the plants happy :)

I plan on putting my fancies in there. They will probably have to take turns :D

DO IT!!!

Already starting :D

So I took my little guy who is home "sick" from school to the local farm store. They had their stock tanks on sale so I ended up buying one today :)

I ended up going with the 70 gallon rubbermaid. I like the shape of the 50 but I wanted a little bigger and anything bigger than the 70 took up too much space on the deck.

Here are some pics from our adventure

The dogs had to check it out

Now all I need are the filter parts :)

What should I get for the container???

That is definitely a must! I trust the girls to do nothing more than take a drink (if they even do that) but it is all woods behind our house so I need to think about possibly coyotes, racoons and definitely birds of prey. With the dogs in the yard and the fencing most wildlife stays out of our yard and the pond is up a flight of stairs.

Do you think that it should be more heavy duty than mesh??

Chelsea, where did you get yours? My other thought is to get a bucket from lowes and put that bamboo shade stuff around it and the pond???

Lowe's is where I got mine. It is really sturdy but cracked a little when Sean drilled it so I would suggest going with something a little thinner to make drilling a bit easier.

Snow won't be a factor as they will move inside when it starts snowing
