Eatfood's 48 gallon tank

191 posts in this topic

Here is my Mr Aqua 48 gallon rimless tank.

Livestock:

-2 ranchu goldfish (coming from east coast ranchu this week)

Equipment:

-Tank: Mr Aqua 48 gallon

-Stand: ADA 90P garden stand

-Light stand: ADA 90P Solar arm

-Light: FishNeedIt 70 watt 14,000K metal halide

-Sump: Eshopps wd75cs wet/dry trickle filter

-Main Pump: Iwaki MD-20RLT running at 250 gph total (about 5x system turn over)

-Heaters: 2 eheim 100 watt heaters

-UV Sterilizer: Emperor Aquatics 18 watt @ 50 gph (diverted off main line of return pump)

-ATO: Tunze Osmolator Nano

Here is a late night shot of the overall setup, I am still missing some hardware, but it is almost there.

I used a 1/8” sheet of blue acrylic between the tank and the rubber placement mat. When you look down at the top of the fish they have a blue background.

I have never put an aquarium in front of a window before, but this is a north facing window (I live in Montana) shaded by two trees that grew up right in front of the house. I double up on the heaters for the winter (even though we keep our house at 68 anyways)

I love your rimless tank and lights. Very modern. Just gorgeous.

You should do a video now please and explain all that "stuff" :) below and how it works. I'll be looking forward to seeing your fish in their home and how you decorate the inside.

Thanks for the kind words. Here is an image from the design phase that might help with the filter. I plan on trying my hand at a video once I get some fish. filtrationsetup_zpsbd1bfd08.jpg

thank you - the blue plastic was twofold, I wanted the blue background and also I needed a little blocking to raise the tank up just a touch so it fit the stand. When I ordered this stuff, I did not realize that mr aqua's tanks are just a smidgen bigger than the ADA ones.
