mysterygirl Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) Q: When is okay to keep a goldfish in a bowl? A: When the bowl is turned upside down into a pond! Goldie Hawn is getting a free ticket to the goldfish buffet here. She really enjoys eating in peace without 15 other fish vying for her next mouthful. I'm looking forward to photographing the magnified images of the fish in the viewing dome. Most of the fish have tried going in the sphere, but it is like a super-scary ride at an amusement park for some of them. After 2 days, Goldie knows the way out, she's very confident and likes the peace and quiet so she can feed at her own pace. It has been better for her than I was hoping for. mysterygirl Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) Tanks, goldfishgirl82! Here is an attempt at a video of her in the new toy. I'm happy that Goldie looks very relaxed in her new feeding sphere. Edited May 1, 2015 by mysterygirl
goldfishfanforever Posted May 1, 2015 Wow she looks gorgeous in the dome in the first picture and the positioning of the dome makes the pond look even better
mysterygirl Posted May 25, 2015 This is the typical Queen B. face and attitude directed towards Skels. Skeletor almost always has her fins-in-her-ears-saying-la-la-la-I-can't-hear-you and just ignores her completely. In this shot Skels is looking up at me as if to say, "See what I have to put up with? Do you see?" Everyone say AWWWWW for long-suffering Skels. . Queen B. seems to view it as her supreme sumo ring (of food) and has more or less claimed it as her territory, Goldie Hawn notwithstanding. Or notwithswimming, heh. One fish to rule them all.....(she wishes).
mysterygirl Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) Iso Tank I flipped the pond lights on randomly at midnight tonight and Goldie was in the dome by herself. The other fish were distributed about the pond, not under-cover, and froze in situ. I turned the lights off quickly, but was happy to see Goldie in her dome as some sort of private refuge. SweetMamaKaty Posted June 13, 2015 That's really beautiful - nice work. Do you mean you overlaid the images somehow? Because that is an awesome idea! How large is it in real life, and did you keep track of how long it took?
mysterygirl Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) That's really beautiful - nice work. Do you mean you overlaid the images somehow? Because that is an awesome idea! How large is it in real life, and did you keep track of how long it took? Thanks SMK, it is US letter sized and took about 8 hours over 3 days to complete. I really enjoy that I can now edit my watercolors. That had not been possible for me before, so I'm exuberant. I'm going to print it on canvas - giclee. Just having fun with my new pen and tablet. mysterygirl Posted June 23, 2015 (edited) Dome Maintenance It has been about 2 months since I first installed the viewing dome. I took the globe off it's stand and cleaned off the algae with bleach. What a difference! Goldie Hawn sleeps in the dome every night. It is her favorite place in the pond, which is perfect Some of the possible reasons: 1. No current. She can rest easier in here 2. Warmer water temperature 3. Less water pressure 4. She can successfully locate food in here (whenever I put some in) and so wants to stay as close as possible at all times 5. She likes the penthouse view. Edited June 23, 2015 by mysterygirl

shakaho Posted July 14, 2015 Your plantings are beautiful. Goldie has a rather unusual attitude. Most goldfish just come to the dome for food. Koi seem to enjoy the view more.
mysterygirl Posted July 15, 2015 (edited) It is odd, Sharon: I would say she's in there 75% of the time. She sleeps alone in there at night, and at any give time I look, she's likely to be in there. If I'm working around the pond she'll use it as a look-out tower, reminding me that this is where she prefers to eat. It has certainaly helped me ensure that she gets her fair share of food. mysterygirl Posted July 16, 2015 (edited) Look who's turning golden! : YIFY A "pond mutt" as Sharon calls her fry of chance pond encounters - YIFY is a fish perhaps only her keeper would love. Matthew pointed out that she has started to turn orange. I promised to keep you posted on her progress, she's 2 years old in these photos taken today.
