Complete lack of guanine. Some calico lines have this in a percentage of the pink mattes. Most pink mattes retain guanine in the peritoneum but it is lacking here.

It could be a separate gene that is linked to calico or it could be fish that are completely homozygous across the tetraploid chromosomes for calico.

Thank you very much for that explanation! I remember a few years ago the mention of glassfish (a name of transparent goldfish) and I'm glad to see that they are finally coming to other countries. Being calico is must take some effort to strengthen this to breed true. Good work! :)
