Hemp Seeds

Recommended Posts

They use hemp seeds, which are highly nutritional, in certain bird foods. I was just wondering if fish like them.

The seeds I would relate to something like wheat grain, which is very

high in carbohydrates. Goldfish aren't able to handle carbs very well.

It messes up their digestive system and fun things like that.

So, it probably wouldn't be advisable to give them seeds. B)

Hemp seeds are more like nuts than grain, mostly fat and protein with a little carbohydrate.

Either way, I don't think that a goldie could crack through the outer layer of the hemp seed, and would probably pass it w/o ever really digesting it.

I don't know, but since goldfish probably wouldn't benefit from it, it wouldn't be worth any potential risk in my mind.

What I'm imagining is a seed that was "unchewable" and is now

lodged in the intestine causing great harm. Goldies' digestive

tracks are super compacted, so food travel is difficult to begin

with.

So I would not bother putting my fish dudes through that.
