  1. I’ve had 3 new 6” orandas in QT since July 31. Treating with salt for 1 week and Prazi started yesterday but no outwards signs of anything going on. Yesterday about 6am I noticed a very long, stringy, bright red poop from one fish. I thought the food (NLS) might be the culprit. That night at 7pm (13 hours later) the poop was still attached and now about 18” long. Put on gloves to remove some and when the fish swam the length stretched out a bit then snapped. I removed about 10” from the tank with the rest still attached to the fish. This morning that fish is dead. What the heck just happened?! Stringy poops on the substrate: Video of a poop he had last night: My orange and white oranda is having long, stringy white poops. I first got him on 8/16/12, and he had an anchor worm. I had him in a QT tank with CyroPro for 1 week, then after that no meds but salted at 0.3% for another 2 weeks. When I first brought him home his poops were very healthy, but while I had him in QT they started getting stringier. Tonight is the first time I have seen poops that are completely white (usually they have some food color in them). He also yawns frequently. I know I need to treat him (and the fantail) with Prazi, but was waiting for my tank to stabilize (tank crashed due to tap water issue 2 weeks ago). The tank is stable now.

Salt, MMs, Medigold * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Fantail has red dots on belly and on her ventral fins from where she has been bottom sitting. I have noticed some white/clear threadlike poo. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Periodic bottom sitting I can't get the text to align to the left side??????? Any way. I have had some ongoing issues with my fantail for a few months. Things seemed to be under control as long as I keep up with WC regularly. I notice that if I slack at all she will begin to bottom sit and develope red dots on her belly and fins where she rests. A WC will resolve the bottom sitting and the dots go away soon after. For the last week she has been bottom sitting pretty regularly. If I get her attention, or if food is being offerd, she will swim around for a bit, but then go back to bottom sitting. My lionhead has begun to do the same thing. He is not quite resting on the bottom of the tank, but is hanging out in a corner, just off of the floor. This is unusual for him--he is very active and healthy. He has not developed any red dots. I have seen some very stringy poop in the tank lately. At first I thought that the blood poisoning had just taken it's toll on Goldie Hawn, but when Mumford (lionhead) began bottom sitting yesterday, I began to wonder if there isn't something else happening, but there are no real symptoms. They do get up and swim and explore and stuff, but then they will go back to sitting, as if they were tuckered out. ????? Thanks for any input. Oh, I should mention that the tank is 35g, but I only keep 30g of water in there so that there is a decent fall from the filters to add airation, there is a bubble disk in the tank as well.

Popeye? * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.?: Less active than usual. Less appetite than usual. Long clear stringy poop. Food in some, but not in all. Hello all. I hope you can help me with Suzy. I have been concerned about her for a couple of weeks. This may be unrelated, but a couple of weeks ago (10/15) she had a long, clear, bubbly poop. I looked it up on Koko's poop page, and it said constipation. So I fasted her a couple of days, and then fed peas. She seemed alright after that. Then on 10/22, I noticed her tail fins looked a little raggedy. I added Morton's pickling salt to .01%. Her tail looks about the same today, maybe a little better. The last couple of days, she's had lots of long stringy poop, mostly clear but some food in it - one as long as I'd say 10 inches! Now I believe she's developing fluid rings around her eyes, particularly the left one (the side she doesn't want me to photograph, apparently!) No food today - yesterday a zucchini slice, which she didn't eat with her usual enthusiasm - just pecked at it some. Poop stuck on a plant (sorry about water spots, but you can see the silvery part too, above the food part): Hope you can give me some advice. There is, of course, some salt remaining in the tank (I haven't added more, but I did about a 70% w/c about an hour ago).
