  1. I've been keeping ghost shrimp in one of my goldfish tanks for a year, so I recently tossed some red cherry shrimp in my other goldfish tank. I have a booming population of them in my betta tank. I figured they would not work out because they are smaller than the ghost shrimp, and I thought the goldfish would have several tasty snacks. Also, they are much more likely to get sucked up by the filter. In my betta tank, I have a sponge cover on the filter intake, but I don't want to do that in the goldfish tank. Today I did a WC and I found DOZENS of cherry shrimp! I was very surprised. RCS reproduce easily, and they are on the job in my big tank. I have a long piece of driftwood that makes a nice cave, and apparently it makes a perfect shrimp home. Unfortunately, I found at least a few in my canister too. I didn't see them until I was emptying it, and they went down the drain. I'm not sure how many were in there.
