  1. Is it better to quarantine a 3 1/2 inch goldfish in a 10 or 20 gallon tank? Which would you all do?
  2. Pearlscale Noobs

After losing 7 pearlscales in Q.T. in a period of 5 months, I decided to bite the bullet and get ones from Dandy Orandas. This is their 11th day in quarantine. They got their first dose of Praziquantel powder last Friday. I do 25% water change every day or every other day. Fingers crossed that they make it.
  3. Hello everyone.. I haven't been here in several months so I don't know if this has been discussed already I went to buy some worms earlier and came across Ruby Reef Hydroplex http://www.rubyreef.net/ The store owner says that Hydroplex is the best thing out there for new arrivals, avoiding the long QT process... Has anyone use this product ?? I purchased some for this weekend purchase but I thought of asking here first before using it Thank y'all
  4. Hi Guys, Well, Miss Coco is partway through her quarantine... she has had 4 rounds of prazi and is currently on her second round of 0.3% salt (she was supposed to be on 0.3% continuously for 2+ weeks, but on Day 13 I forgot to add her salt back into her tank after a water change, then left to head out of town... oops. I noticed when I got back home and had to bring her back up to 0.3% again). Test Results for the Following Ammonia Level - Tank: 0 ppm - Tap: between 0.25 - 0.5 ppm (closer to 0.5 ppm) Nitrite Level - Tank: 0 ppm - Tap: 0 ppm Nitrate Level - Tank: 0 ppm - Tap: 0 ppm PH Level - Tank: 8.0 - 8.2 (closer to 8.2) - Tap: Immediate test @ 8.2, test after sitting for 1+ hour @ 8.2, test after 24 hours @ 8.0-8.2 (closer to 8.2), test after 48 hours @ 8.0 KH Level - Tank: 5-6 (leaning more towards 6) - Tap: 5-6 (leaning more towards 6) GH Level - Tank: 11 - Tap: 11 Other Required Info Brand of Test Kit Used: API drops & Salifert for the D.O. test Water Temperature: 70-71 degrees Tank Size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 20 gallon quarantine tank - running since September 13, 2016. What is the name and size of the filter(s)? 1 Large Bacto Surge Sponge Filter How often do you change the water and how much? It depends. I try to do daily 80% water changes, but sometimes it's every other day. How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Yesterday, 80% water change How many fish in the tank and their size? I hefty ryukin. I can provide SL and weight tonight when I get home. What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime and Baking Soda to stabilize my PH (1 tsp per 20 gallons) What do you feed your fish and how often? How frequently do you feed each? It varies. Duckweed, nori seaweed, spirulina flakes, Azayaka Basic Balance (pre-soaked), blanched veggies, frozen blood worms/brine shrimp/spirulina brine shrimp, Veggie tank mates, and NLS Thera A+ .5 mm pellets. I haven't touched the Repashy in a while. Feeding is typically once/twice a day (unless I'm home on the weekend when they get small meals up to 3x day. Any new fish added to the tank? Nope. Any medications added to the tank? Just salt at 0.3% right now. List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. 0.3% salt and prazi powder. Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt", bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc? Saturday, Miss Coco left lots of poop for me on the sponge filter... most of which is long and clear, and one in particular has some white stringiness in it? Of course, I got pics because only a "mom" would take photos of goldfish poop to post: Since it was pretty late, I figured I'd just do a water change in the morning. When I checked on her the next morning, she apparently dropped some eggs sometime during the night: She wasn't very interested in her duckweed breakfast, but I assumed she propbably feasted on her eggs and didn't think too much of it. During her water change, I noticed her mouth looked a bit off... what I mean is, the normally smooth slope from her forehead to her mouth looked to be indented just above the top part of her mouth. Just in case I missed something, I went back and looked at pics/videos of her from when I first got her. Sure enough, the previous pics/videos shows her looking normal and sassy. Something is definitely off and I'm not sure what it is: Here you can see the indentation above her mouth and in between her nasal bouquets This is the best picture that shows the bump on the top of her mouth Here's a video I got of here... It's tough to see what I'm talking about, but there is definitely a weird indentation: Here is a picture and video of how she looked before: I don't know how her mouth ended up looking like that? The only thing in the tank is the sponge filter... there isn't much for her to hurt herself. She also seems less active.... she's normally very feisty, but she's not as zippy Her mouth probably hurts? Also.... When I finished the water change, I noticed this! What IS that?! As soon as I finished taking the video, I siphoned that thing out fast!!
  5. I want to keep a record of the care of Sookie and Saber before I add them to the 55. 10/12/16 and 10/13 Sookie and Saber are in the 10 g in plain primed clean water. 10/14/16= 0.1% salt (ten teaspoons)- ten gallon 10/15/16= 0.2% salt (20 teaspoons) in the 10 gal 10/16/16= 0.3% salt (30 teaspoons) in the 10 gal Question: how long should I continue salt before starting prazi? Planning to continue 0.3% salt for two weeks.
  6. Dolly Parton's QT

I've been doing water changes in Dolly's 10 gallon QT tank every day since I got her on August 25 2016. I plan to start powdered prazi today. Container says: 25 gr for entire container. Dosage is 10 grams/1000 gallon of water. If I'm dosing 10 gal, how much should I use? Here's my cutie just in case any body forgot
  7. So I've ordered some Java Moss & Watersprite from AquariumPlants.com, and I was wondering what's the safest way to do a bleach dip on them? I can't afford to get potassium permanganate, and I already have bleach, so that's what I'm rolling with. I'm assuming a 1 minute dip in 1 part bleach/19 parts water, then straight into 5x Primed water, then rinsing under the tap, and then soaking in 5x Primed water to wait as I go through all the plants and to watch them for any melting. Do you guys feel this is sufficient? Will this kill any snails/parasites without killing the plants?
  8. Hi, guys... As some of you know I had to put Valentino to sleep this morning, and later I went to PetSmart to return some stuff I had bought, and saw two little ryukins I liked, and brought them home. I know... It's PetSmart... but I can't afford to get another one from Rain Garden after I lost two from there this month, so since I have the extra tank set up, I'll take my chances and see if I can bring them up to be strong healthy goldies. I already cleaned the tank, salted it and added Prazi. But I have a whole jar of Hex Shield for parasites left over, and it occurred to me I could treat them for parasites while they are in quarantine... is it smart? Is it done?
  9. My husband brought me home 2 anubias, 3 ghost shrimp and a Nerite snail, as a surprise. I've never had shrimp before, and the only experience I have with snails was about ten years ago when someone gave me a tank, and there were hundreds of tiny dark snails everywhere in it. I plan to put them in with my two ranchu's. The tank is a 36G, has the two GF (both about 1 inch long), two anubias, and two crypts. How long do I need to quarantine the shrimp and snails? They are in a 1G tank with the new anubias plants at the moment. I read that shrimp like to have a very planty environment with a hidey-space. I have a cave in the the 36G that I was thinking about possibly just putting the anubias plants in front of the two entrances? That way the shrimp could make that their home. Thoughts and suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!
  10. Question about salt

So, I have left the new goldies alone over the weekend to destress (by "alone" I mean I've not started any quarantine procedure), but I plan to start this oncoming week. I just wanted to know, if seasalt meant for cooking is okay to use? I live in UK and haven't seen anything that's be similar to Morton's Canning and Pickling salt. The tub of our sea salt says it is 100% salt, so I assume it is safe to use, but I want to check this just in case.
  11. New Goldfish Quarantine Question

Hi all, I just got two new fancies for my 90 gal aquaponics system, and they're currently in a 40 gal quarantine. Please excuse me if my questions seem dumb--I've never had fish in quarantine, and I'm more used to a large aquaponics system, so keeping just a regular aquarium is new to me. Anyway, I've had the new fish in there for about 5 days. I got them from the same place I got my last fish a year ago, though I'm not sure that's relevant. I have a basic aqueon filter, heater, aerator, plus a UV sterilizer (for a bacterial bloom that popped up a couple days in). I've been testing the water and Ammonia is at 0ppm, Nitrite is at like .25ppm, Nitrate is 10-20ppm. Overall, the fish seem to be doing really well, really cruising around the tank and keeping busy. So I have a couple questions 1. How long do I really have to keep these guys in quarantine? It would be SO much easier to have them in the aquaponics system, which mostly regulates itself, heh. 2. I've heard a number of people suggest treating new fish with prazi or salt as a matter of course, even with no symptoms. Is this recommended? They seem perfectly fine right now. 3. I read somewhere I shouldn't have carbon in my filter. Why is that? 4. I'm not sure why there's always nitrite present, even though I've done 50% or greater water changes 2 times in the past 5 days. Is this normal? 5. One of my new fish is pretty small--about 1.5 inches long--and my older fish are closer to 4-5 inches long, including one wakin who has taken to chasing my female fantail around the tank. Should I be worried about him in the big tank? Thanks so much for your help! Dani
  12. So I am getting a new baby pearlscale this weekend. I saw them in another town near me and got pretty excited. I'm super excited because although orandas have my heart those little pearscales always make me smile too. I was reading a post a few weeks back where I read that Hikari did not recommend using salt with their fluke treatment, PraziPro. I just wanted to check if this was true. I only have PraziPro so I just want to make sure that during the quarantine period it is effective.
  13. Cheap(ish) Quarantine tank?

Anyone knows where I could get foodgrade tub etc for about 120-150 liter to use as quarantine tank? My love, bless him, doesn't really know anywhere to get big plastic tubs, and he also strongly hinted that while he is fine with one big tank, he would prefer not to have another "proper" (in his mind, made of glass) tank around for quarantine (but apparently plastic one would be fine, maker alone knows his logic). He is right in that we ARE somewhat pressed in pace, however, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
  14. So today is day 27, the end of round five of prazi and, if all goes smoothly, I'm planning to introduce my shubunkin, Cosette (who I have a thread about here) into the main tank this coming Friday (QT day 33). I'm a little nervous that my existing fish, Kaji, will bully her since he hasn't lived with other fish since I got him as a tiny 1/2" fish from the fair almost 2 years ago and is also much bigger than her (about 7" sl to her 4" and much more rotund). So, here's what I plan to do based on what I've read from other threads and I was wondering if anyone has anything to add: -mix some of the MT water into the the QT with every daily WC. The QT is 20 gal and I did a 16gal (80%) WC today and added 2gal from Kaji's tank. I was thinking of increasing by 2 gallons or 10% every day (i.e. 4,6, 8 until Friday). -right before adding Cosette, feed Kaji so he will be less aggressive -right before adding Cosette, do a large WC in the MT -right before adding Cosette, rearrange the decor in tank so Kaji will be less territorial Since when I got Cosette she was severely underweight, I've been feeding her 6 small meals a day, whereas I usually feed Kaji 3 larger meals a day. Should I start adjusting Cosette to the three meals a day schedule so she'll be ready for it when she goes into the main tank? I'm probably over-worried, but I want to maximize the chance that they'll get along, especially because I'm going away for two weeks the first week of August so only have 2 weeks to make sure they're okay before I leave them in my boyfriend's care.
  15. So I am excited to say in one week exactly I will be crossing the boarder and picking up two orandas from Rain Garden at Fed Ex 2 hours away from me. I thought this would happen in more like a year from now but my partner is very supportive after seeing my two little charming and engaging orandas, Jadzia & Cherub - one from Walmart and one from Petsmart. He then saw the pictures of Rain Garden's Orandas and agreed we have to have a couple of them I am so excited! I followed the quarantine procedures with both my little duo and both benefited immensley. Jadzia recovered from ich and some kind of intestinal bacterial infection and Cherub from amonia burns. I have read about quarantine procedures from here, other sources, and from Steve from Rain Garden. My tank and aqua clears are seeded and cycled. My water changer is ready! But I guess my questions are: Should I put the new orandas in a salt solution of .1 right away, as soon as I bring them home? Or should I give it a couple days or more? Do I need to do the prazi treatment with them? I asked Steve their ages and one is just over a year and the other is just over 2 years. They are older and I'm not sure what effect this has on quarantine and changes in their environment. I also know he is a reputable breeder so they were well taken care of before I recieve them. But after travelling so far, the expense, and all the effort, i really want to do the right and best things for the the two beauties.
  16. New Shubunkin comet

I had posted a couple weeks ago about getting a tankmate for my comet, Kaji and so after getting back from a trip yesterday I decided to get one. I was originally planning to order a 6-8" sarasa from a breeder through my LFS but thought that it wouldn't hurt to see what they had in stock first. Well, there was a special fish in stock. She (maybe a he, but she for now) is a shubunkin comet and drew me in by her brownish-gold color, long flowy fins, and graceful movement. Unfortunately she has bad fin rot, is very skinny and looks kind of pathetic. I thought both that she could be a very beautiful fish with some clean water, quality food and perhaps meds, and that if I didn't take her probably no one ever would, so I got the owner to give her to me for half price ($1.50). She's about 4" sl and 5"tl, although it's hard to tell because her fins are so thin and scraggly. I'm a real sucker for poor, unwanted fish. Kaji was a originally a fair fish that my friend won and didn't want. He had tail rot when I first got him and now he's extremely lively and robust. I'm hoping the new fish makes it through quarantine and, over time, can be fat and robust like him. I know I'm kind of a dupe--went in to order a large, brand new, pristine fish and came back with a beaten up rescue. The good news is that she's very lively--no bottom sitting or gill trouble that I can see. After slowly adjusting her to the water and letting her into her quarantine tank (20g with an uncycled filter), she seemed to be doing well and scavenging for food, so I fed her a tiny bit of blanched broccoli florets. She gobbled them up eagerly but then spit them out a few moments later, which makes me suspect she might have flukes. I salted to .1% and will increase to .3 over the next 24 hours. I plan to do at least 80% water changes every day (depending on how the parameters read) and treat with prazi 5 or 6 rounds. Any other suggestions for what else I should do? And, last, but not least, here are some pictures!
  17. Hi all, I have had my new oranda, Victoria, in a .3% salt solution for almost 2 weeks now while administering Prazi double doses. She came from Petsmart so I have been following Koko's protocols for QT under questionable circumstances. Other than some surface dancing--I think she associates the surface with food from her flake days--she has been tolerating everything like a champ. I plan to do 4 rounds of Prazi. She is on round 3. How long should I keep her at the current salt concentration, do you think? My other fish had a secondary infection after a full blown Prazi tratment, so I am nervous about parasites in general. Duchess seems to be improving despite some lethargy and her tail issues, though. I am hoping that she is in the clear and that the main tank is healthy. So am I QTing Vickie right? Or is it overkill? I've never QTed before.
  18. White stuff in QT?

I've had my new little oranda, Victoria, in quarantine for a week now. She just finished 1 round of Prazi at .3% salt and seems mostly fine (eating, being excited, not gasping or bottom-sitting). I am quarantining her in a 10 gallon without a filter. Her poop, from what I can tell, looks OK, but I noticed when I did a 100% water change today that there was a lot of strange light-colored (kind of tan) and white material floating around in her water. It has a gossamer quality. Could it be her slime coat? I also noticed a tiny fray in her tail, so I'm worried that she is stressed. Is this "biofilm"? I was thinking of not feeding her for a day or two to see if the stuff is some kind of mystery poo.
  19. morton's canning salt

Hi! I have two small ornadas, Jadzia & Cherub, in quarantine. I am running out of API Salt but I bought Morton's Canning Salt the other day because I have read that it is a good one to use and it's dirt cheap. It's a fine salt though so I am just wondering how much to use? Is it 1tsp per gallon for a .1% solution? If it's not a good salt to use I will go and get some API for sure. Thanks
  20. Hi, I have a question. I am QTing my two fish pOdge and Louie. Louie had ich on him when I got him, and he was in the bag with pOdge from the pet shop so I am QTing them together. I have added the info from the d&d thread I just made for pOdges eye. It seems her eye is ok, but due to my tank being so small, it has been recommended I do 100% daily water changes, which I am more than happy to do. I cannot get a bigger QT tank at the moment and am keeping a very close eye on water parameters and their health. I have just started day 5 treatment for ich: The QT tank was a 12L on day one, and upgraded to a 19L on day two with 100% WC. We have just finished day 4. Did a 50% water change yesterday vacuuming the bottom of the tank, and 100% today removing and replacing filter floss. I increased the tank temp to from 22-26deg celcius over the first 36hr. Commenced salt treatment starting at 0.1% 5hrs after they were in the tank, increasing to 0.2% 12hrs later, and 0.3% 24hrs later again. No Ich spots have been seen for 2 days. I therefore have at least 7 more days of 0.3% salt to get through, and I also need to prazi. I have Blue Planet Fluke/Tapeworm Tablets 100 (Praziquantel) as I could not get the prazi recommended. Each tablet contains 100mg of Praziquantel. My questions are; I have noticed that the recommendations for prazi treatment indicate WC (>50%) only on certain days. I need to do 100% WC daily, so how will this affect my treatment schedule? Do I keep the 0.3% salt up for the whole 30 days? or should it be less for the tablets I have? http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/index.php?/topic/105076-schedules-for-the-treatment-of-flukes-etc-using-praziquantel/ I couldn't get my head around this so I thought I would ask. Thanks for your help. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0ppm (0.1ppm prior to 100% water change today) * Nitrite Level(Tank)0ppm * Nitrate level(Tank)0ppm * Ammonia Level(Tap)0ppm * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0ppm * Nitrate level(Tap) 0ppm * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.4 kh55 gh250 approx. * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.4 kh55 gh250 approx. Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? Aqua One Air Filter Cartridge for up to 26L. I cleaned the filter floss when doing 50% water change yesterday, and ditched it today for new filter floss with 100% water change today in case it was harbouring ich's. Carbon filter part has been removed. * How often do you change the water and how much? Did a 50% water change yesterday vacuuming the bottom of the tank, and 100% today due to ich treatment and their being in such a small tank (I don't have a bigger one for QT and cant get one at the moment ) * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Did a 50% water change yesterday vacuuming the bottom of the tank, and 100% today due to ich treatment and their being in such a small tank (I don't have a bigger one for QT and cant get one at the moment ) * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 both about 5-6cm * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime and salt 0.3% (for current ich treatment) * What do you feed your fish and how often? Nutrifin Max Flakes small pinch morning and night, the food is all gone before it hits the bottom of the tank, and it is gone in less than a min. They were fed shelled peas yesterday and gobbled them up really quickly... prob had about 1.5 peas each (did the 50% water change/tank vac after this) * Any new fish added to the tank? No, they have both been in QT the same length of time * Any medications added to the tank? salt 0.3% (for current ich treatment) * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Louie had ich spots on him when I got him so increased the tank temp to from 22-26deg celcius over 36hr and commenced salt treatment starting at 0.1% 5hrs after they were in the tank, increasing to 0.2% 12hrs later, and 0.3% 24hrs later again. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? pOdges right eye is not in the same position as her left eye, it looks a little protruded at the top. Ich that was seen on Louie is gone and no other ich has been seen for 2 days. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? No unusual behaviour, just wanted to catch the eye thing quickly if it was a problem. Both have responded fine to the salt/temp treatment, and both are eating fine and interacting with me really well. pOdge likes to come over and 'have a chat' when you go near the tank and move your mouth .
  21. Eleazar

I purchased a tiny black moor goldfish from PetCo this Saturday. Today I will officially start his quarantine procedures. . . As soon as school finishes, tee hee. I will also post pictures. He is being QT'd in a 58 qt plastic tub with an air stone. What would I dose for Prazi in there(I do not have a scale to measure any amounts out, sorry), and what would I use to raise the salt to 0.3%? I have the powdered Prazi, if that matters. Also, do I need to add a heater in there? His tank seems to average 68F. Thanks!
  22. I have had my new babies in QT for almost two weeks. Aside from a rocky start due to the stress of bad overnight shipping ( ) they have settled well and seem to be very healthy. I am planning on keeping them in QT for the full four weeks which will give me time to set up my new big tank ( ). I have a bag of Kusuri Wormer Plus to hand but I'm not a fan of medicating any animal for the sake of medicating them. The advice I want is whether or not I should go ahead and use the Kusuri Wormer Plus on my new babies or leave well enough alone as they seem very healthy .
  23. Am I doing this right?

Hello! I'm new here! Nice to meet you. I have a cycled tank, which has been this way for about 2 years (26 gallon, 1 fish) I brought home an Oranda yesterday and put him/her in a 10 gallon, I really don't want to contaminate my other fish in any way.. So I've done research on here and I need advice to make sure I'm doing this properly... Here is what I'm doing right now: -100% daily water change -Added cycled media from my main tank to the filter -0.1% salt, planning on going up to 0.2% or 0.3% (How long should I use salt for?) -Added Prazipro yesterday, and today after WC. (How many days in a row can I add prazi in? Do I give ''breaks'' to the treatment?) -Observing behavior, eating, poo...etc. Is there anything else I need to do? He is my setup right now... Thanks in advance !!!
  24. Salt removal

So I have finished a week of salt with my two new fish after just over a week or so without salt so they have been in quarantine for nearly three weeks. I upped the salt every 12 hours from 0.1 - 0.2 and then finally 0.3 but now the fish have been salted for one week how do I remove the salt do I just fill the tank with no slat and just fresh water or do I take 0.1 away every 12 hours by using less salt?? any advice will be grateful thanks
  25. So it's only just over a week since I lost my lovely Mario, but my big beautiful tank has been sitting empty and I have been miserable about the whole horrible situation all week... what I could have done differently, if only I had antibiotics available straight away, if I only I hadn't gone away that weekend, etc. etc. My boyfriend finally managed to coax me out of my misery hole to go and look at some goldfish shops at the weekend. So we went to our usual places, we even did the hour drive to the place where we got Mario from, but every fish I looked at I compared to him, and so obviously none of them were good enough. But then Baz saw a bronze oranda that he liked, so we went for it. There's no time like the present I suppose. I said to myself that the next fish we get will be a pair, I almost felt bad for Mario spending all that time as a solo fishy. So I picked out the cutest calico ranchu, about the same size as the oranda. So there we have it, an oranda and a ranchu, I'm not naming them yet or posting pictures until they get through their qt (sorry for being mysterious, I just don't want to get too attached just yet). They're in an 80l quarantine tub (I think that's about 20 US gallons?), with the same filter, heater and air curtain I used for Mario's qt (all cleaned and new sponges in filter of course). It was all set up and ready to go before I went fish 'browsing', who was I kidding thinking I was going to come home empty handed?! Here's my thing though - it's uncycled (hence new filter sponges) - I initially used some mature filter sponge from the big canister filter from the main tank, but no matter how much I 'gently rinsed it' in old tank water, it was still dirty looking and throwing bits of gunk into the lovely clean qt tank. So I emptied it all out and decided to go uncycled and be a slave to the bucket for the next few weeks. So my qt plan is to salt for the first week, then start de-worming treatment next week. I got them home yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, and let them into their lovely big clean qt tub after a couple of hours acclimatising. I fed them little and often yesterday, which they ate ravenously, and had a towel over the tub to let them destress. This morning I did as big a water change as possible, then salted to 0.1%. This evening I will raise it to 0.2%, then finally to 0.3% tomorrow morning. It's going to be a faff adding back salt with all the water changes, but needs must. I plan to start worming treatment next week - I've ordered two worming products, as I wasn't sure which would be best (both ordered online as anthelmintics aren't available over the counter here). So here is where I need the most advice, I initially ordered some Kusuri Wormer Plus, as that was what I saw was recommended on an article on here. Then I found an eBay shop that ships to the UK, so ordered some PraziPro as well. So now I've got the choice of using either a flubendazole or praziquantel based product, does anyone have any advice on which I should use? And whichever one I do use can I continue with the salt treatment or should I stop that? Or just lower it to 0.1%? Also, I would really like to add some carbon to the filter to help prevent ammonia creeping up between wc's (I'm doing almost 100% everyday), can I do that with salt? I'm assuming I'll have to remove it when I start anthelmintic treatment though. Both fish look active and healthy but I don't really trust the source they came from - the oranda was from a very overstocked display tank, and the guy didn't seem that knowledgable, I had to catch the oranda myself as he wasn't keen on catching it with his hands and I don't like them thrashing around in a net. Anyway, I must be a sucker for punishment, lets hope I don't have too many problems... Thoughts and advice very welcome as always
