  1. Hello, my goldfish is 1 year old and I just did a full tank change. Now I noticed white growth from one eye and maybe a little on the other eye. What is it? what should I do? My first goldfish!!
  2. My telescope eye hit his eye on some driftwood I think. He's got a horrible eye injury in one eye. This eye is twice as large as his other one. Can anything be done for this?

A year ago, they went through several salt + prazipro rounds * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? There appears to be blood pooling in the eyeball... I noticed a blood spot (first pic) about 3 weeks ago. I have been leaving it alone thinking she had just gotten poked by the plastic plant and that it would heal without help (ugh).. I didn't notice change until tonight. The eye was always larger than the other, but today I can see it is definitely swelling beyond what is normal for her and now there is more blood! * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? She has always been a surface gulper but everything else seems fine behavior wise. Still active and eating. 4. Hello, my large black moor has developed something awful with one eye. It began Sunday with what looked like a scrape/burn (though he lives in a tank with no decor or heater, just the filter intakes), no redness just missing skin/scale. Changed 90% water and treated the tank with .15% salt. Not much change over the days, no worse or better. This morning it was terrible and bleeding quite a bit. The areas are not deep or lacerations, the missing “skin” leaves a white semi smooth patch below, not raised and one side of the scrape is red and bleeding. I’ve moved him to my hospital tank with .15% salt and swabbed with peroxide - After 2 hours in the hospital tank it has stopped bleeding. Images 1 and 2 are just after peroxide swabs, images 3, 4, and 5 are a few hours later. Advice, identification, and treatment options? I have, on hand - hydrogen peroxide, aquarium salt, epsom salt, Melafix, Pimafix, Cyropro, Prazipro, Blue Ridge Medicated food Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) Main tank 0 Hospital tank 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) Main tank 0 Hospital tank 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) Main tank 5~10 Hospital tank 5 * Ammonia Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrate level(Tap) 0 * Ph Level, Tank 7.1 * Ph Level, Tap Didn’t test Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? 5. So I got a new goldfish today that is missing one of its gill plates and one of its eyes is missing but there still seems to be some eye left that moves unlike my other 1 eyed telescope goldfish that has no excess of her eye left. Will this part of the eye fall out or will the fish require surgery or something else??
  6. Hi, I noticed while linking photos to another thread that one of pOdge's eyes stick out more than the other. It is her right eye. I didn't notice this before, but I am unsure if this is a change in her eye, or if she has had it all along. I have only had her for 3 days and she is in QT at the moment with Louie undergoing salt treatment for ich (Louie had ich and they were in the same bag from the petshop). Is this normal for a Goldie? Is it a sign of disease? Should I be keeping an eye on it, so to speak LOL! I might be worrying for nothing! Here are the photos, the checklist is below. Thanks so much for your help. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0ppm (0.1ppm prior to 100% water change today) * Nitrite Level(Tank)0ppm * Nitrate level(Tank)0ppm * Ammonia Level(Tap)0ppm * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0ppm * Nitrate level(Tap) 0ppm * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.4 kh55 gh250 approx. * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.4 kh55 gh250 approx. Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API Freshwater master test kit * Water temperature? 26deg Celcius * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 19L, two days (upgraded from a 12L and keeping a strict eye on the parameters esp ammonia) * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Aqua One Air Filter Cartridge for up to 26L. I cleaned the filter floss when doing 50% water change yesterday, and ditched it today for new filter floss with 100% water change today in case it was harbouring ich's. Carbon filter part has been removed. * How often do you change the water and how much? Did a 50% water change yesterday vacuuming the bottom of the tank, and 100% today due to ich treatment and their being in such a small tank (I don't have a bigger one for QT and cant get one at the moment ) * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Did a 50% water change yesterday vacuuming the bottom of the tank, and 100% today due to ich treatment and their being in such a small tank (I don't have a bigger one for QT and cant get one at the moment ) * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 both about 5-6cm * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime and salt 0.3% (for current ich treatment) * What do you feed your fish and how often? Nutrifin Max Flakes small pinch morning and night, the food is all gone before it hits the bottom of the tank, and it is gone in less than a min. They were fed shelled peas yesterday and gobbled them up really quickly... prob had about 1.5 peas each (did the 50% water change/tank vac after this) * Any new fish added to the tank? No, they have both been in QT the same length of time * Any medications added to the tank? salt 0.3% (for current ich treatment) * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Louie had ich spots on him when I got him so increased the tank temp to from 22-26deg celcius over 36hr and commenced salt treatment starting at 0.1% 5hrs after they were in the tank, increasing to 0.2% 12hrs later, and 0.3% 24hrs later again. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? pOdges right eye is not in the same position as her left eye, it looks a little protruded at the top. Ich that was seen on Louie is gone and no other ich has been seen for 2 days. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? No unusual behaviour, just wanted to catch the eye thing quickly if it was a problem. Both have responded fine to the salt/temp treatment, and both are eating fine and interacting with me really well. pOdge likes to come over and 'have a chat' when you go near the tank and move your mouth . I'm sorry if I am being a worry-wart. I just was unsure so thought I should ask.
  7. How can you tell if a telescope eye goldfish has Popeye?? I thought two of mine had Popeye and treated them for well over a month with Epsom salt with no change and the eyes haven't got any bigger so could it just be eye growth?? And finally my new little telescope I got a while ago is starting to get a ring around his eyes but he is growing so I think it is eye growth. So how do you tell the difference between eye growth and Popeye??
  8. I just added two fish yesterday to my tank a pearlscale and a telesope. They are smaller than my other goldies. I was watching them and they seemed fine. I went away from my tank and when I came back after they ate I noticed the telescope has an eye missing. The entire eye was taken from the socket. I want to know what I can do to keep this fish healthy. I do not have a qt. I have them separated now in the tank. It is eating and pooping normally, Please help! Thank you! This is my first time posting so I don't know how to add pictures.
  9. Hello! I was told to come and ask this in the forums here. My black moor that I have had about 4 months had had what I believed to be pop eye since I had gotten her. At first it seemed to just be one eye larger than the other and when a friend told me it looked like pop eye I did the water changes and salt baths and that seemed to be working. The swelling went down I just moved her to a larger tank and she was doing fine (it's been up about two months now) Until just recently I noticed her eye was swelling again, and upon closer inspection the pupil is super dilated and there seems to be a bubble inside the pupil. The eye has gotten HUGE and I am not sure what to do... She is still very energetic and feisty. Her appetite is still excellent so she is all good there. She's he boss of the tank so my oranda doesn't pick on her at all. I did a water change last night and gave her another salt soak. I won't be able to afford any medications until the 17th when I get paid again and I fear it may fall out if i gets any bigger. Any advice would be awesome, thank you! In the first image here you can see in her reflection how huge and swollen her left eye is compared to the other. Here is a frontal view, hopefully you can see it.

  11. Hi, thanks for helping me. I’ve two goldfish in my tank and recently-for the past few days- my black moor has been acting really lethargic, sitting in the same corner- he’d swim around a bit, then go to the exact corner behind a plant. So, worried about the ammonia levels, I decided a water change was in order, and in the middle of siphoning out the water, the poor black moor got sucked in and got stuck between the tube and the vacuum. I got him out, but his protruding eyes seemed to have ruptured, the skin flows around his eyes, you can see his eyes but they don’t protrude. I don’t think he can see anything and he still seems extremely lethargic and doesn’t move around unless the other goldfish bumps into him. I'll post pictures and a video as soon as my phone turns on. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level (tank): I’m sorry, I can’t give any information about the water. * Nitrite Level (tank) * Nitrate level (Tank) * Ammonia Level (Tap): * Nitrite Level (Tap) * Nitrate level (Tap) * Ph Level, (Tank) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) * Ph Level, (Tap) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops?- N/A * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? I don’t remember the name but it was a 20-30 gallon filter. * What kind of water additives or conditioners? “Startup Kit” * Water temperature? Hovering around 60 F * How often do you change the water and how much? Typically once a week at about 25% * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Today, I was worried and was in the process of a 40% change though * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? Fifteen, two months * How many fish in the tank and their size? Two, about an inch and a half each * What do you feed your fish and how often? Once a day, a pinch of betta flakes. * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? No * List previous issues experienced (dropsy, SBD, etc.) None at all * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? No, aside from the lack of protruding eyes and the skin around the face * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? The other goldfish is fine- though he does like to sit between the filter and the wall of the tank, but the black moor stays at the bottom and seems to be gasping for air * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Absolutely no problems until now * You can really help us to identify with the concern more accurately if you post some pictures and a short video.

  13. Hi, A couple of days ago, I noticed that my Goldfish's eye is "popping" out, and it has a bruise below the eye, but then the eye started to bleed, and now the eye is full of blood. The eye pops out even more every day. When I noticed the eye problem, I moved this fish to a quarantine tank. Here's a video on what's happening http://youtu.be/WR_SsRKoHmE I added 3 Albino Red-finned Sharks (I had no idea that they were sharks), my local fish store didn't even know what they are. They said that it's okay to put those fish with my goldfish. I have 4 Goldfish (1 Comet, 1 Fantail, 2 Eggfish) in my tank (including the sick one) and 3 Albino red-finned sharks (for 2 days, then I moved those Sharks to my pond). My tank is fairly small (31320cm3 = 8.27 gallons), I do know that it's cramp but my little brother keeps on buying more fish. The sick fish (Eggfish) has a "brother" that I bought together with the sick fish, and he's doing great. The sick fish doesn't swim as much as he used to, and he keeps on staying on the bottom of the tank. He also eats a lot less. I don't know the water pH, Nitrates, Nitrites, Ammonia (since they don't sell test kits in Indonesia), but I use bore water (well water) purified through some UV tubes and filters. I added water conditioner, plant fertilizers, anti-stress zyme, and some salt. In my quarantine tank, I added water conditioner, anti-stress zyme, and salt. I feed my Goldfish Goldfish flake food, and frozen bloodworm every week or so. I rarely do water changes (like 25% 2X a month) because I have a decent filter. The tank have been running for ~5 years, but recently (~2 weeks ago), I changed everything (substrate, water, added plants). To simplify things [*]Test Results for the Following: [*]Ammonia Level? - (Where I live, they don't sell the kit) [*]Nitrite Level? - (Where I live, they don't sell the kit) [*]Nitrate level? - (Where I live, they don't sell the kit) [*]Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)? - (Where I live, they don't sell the kit) [*]Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)? - (Where I live, they don't sell the kit)(I use bore water) [*]Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? - (Where I live, they don't sell the kit) [*]Water temperature? ~23 degrees Celsius = ~73.4 degrees Fahrenheit [*]Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 8.27 Gallons, running for 5 years, but changed everything 2 weeks ago [*]What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? I don't know the brand, 180 gallons /hour internal filter + DIY filter (sponge, cotton floss, ceramic noodles) [*]How often do you change the water and how much? 25% twice a month [*]how many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change 5 days ago [*]How many fish in the tank and their size? 4 (1 fantail, 1 comet, 2 eggfish) + 3 Albino Red-finned sharks (I removed them) [*]What kind of water additives or conditioners? Water conditioner (starter), Anti-stress zyme, Fertellizers, Salt [*]What do you feed your fish and how often? Goldfish flake 1x/day + frozen bloodworm 1x/week [*]Any new fish added to the tank? 3 Albino red-finned sharks [*]Any medications added to the tank Salt [*]List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. - (they never got sick) Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. [*]Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Frayed fins [*]Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Fish eats significantly less, Fish stays on the bottom and swims less often Pics: http://photobucket.com/Goldfisheyeproblempleasehelp Thanks
  14. I did not fill in the questionnaire form, because I didn't find any of it relevant to my situation, but if anyone would like me to just let me know. So about a week and a half ago my black moor, Cap'n K'nuckles, lost an eye. I'm not sure how it happened, as I have gone to extreme measures to make sure my 55gal goldfish tank is safe for his precious eyes. His tank mates are an oranda and two fancies. He is the smallest of the bunch (about 3 inches), and I always watch to make sure he doesn't get picked on, and I have never seen any signs of aggression. I treated with aquarium salt, melafix, and small daily water changes for a week, and it seems to have healed over. His behaviour has been normal since the night it happened. Eating and foraging just like it never happened. For the past 4 days I have moved him into my 33gal tank, which houses 5 bloodfin tetras, 3 male guppies, and 2 juvenile clown loaches. The reason I moved him is that he can no longer keep up with the other goldfish for food. He gets barreled over and pushed around at feeding time. I keep this tank at about 74 degrees, which is 2 degrees warmer than his old tank. From my understanding moor's are a sub-tropical goldfish and can enjoy temperatures in this range, is that true? Will he be okay with his new tank mates? The clown loaches will be moving to my father's 90gal tank as soon as they're big enough to not be sucked up in the powerful filter. I appreciate all advice and input in advance! Sorry for the bad pictures, I forgot to wipe my lens prior to taking them! picture 1 frontal - http://oi41.tinypic.com/ev9q87.jpg picture 2 side - http://oi41.tinypic.com/29whl4.jpg
