  1. SIP Clarabelle

It was a sunny, early summer day when you first came into my life. I wasn't planning on getting any fish. After five painful blows in a two month period, I was sure that I would never again succeed at keeping goldfish alive. So I swore off goldfish, swore off fish in general... but left the tank up and cycling, just in case. And of course, just in case happened that fateful day. You were so perky and cute, a little calico in a tank of orange. Your broad stripe was eye catching and there's just something about a matte white, with the blue beneath, that just holds me sway. So naturally I brought you home. I worried about you from the start. Would you be okay in the bowl for an hour until I could go home? Would you even survive the trip? Were you going to last a few days, act normal, raise my hopes-- only to dash them with a sudden death? And your confirmation was weird, with an abnormally shaped abdomen. You were so mad when I separated you from Monet for observation that first week. But once reunited, you were forever friends. I am glad you were still together at your passing. You were shuffled from tank to tank, even surviving winter trips to school, living in the greenhouse for more than a week without food or a waterchange during our school break. Always healthy, always beautiful. You were the one, the looker, the goldfish people pointed to and loved. Of course you'd be the next to fall prey to the victim of life's great enemy, one that no one can escape. It started gradually, with some bottomsitting, and I failed to act. I assumed you were pouting at the lowered quantity of food, or the less than ideal water change schedule, with some missed due to increased responsibilities at work, school, with volunteering and internships. I thought maybe your tail, with it's partial fusing, was bothering you, weighing you down, that you were just being lazy. Until I woke up this morning and you were upside down. Immediately you were moved to a clean 5g bucket with Safe and a bubbler, and I promised to start a DnD as soon as I returned home from school. But I knew you wouldn't be breathing when I returned. So now you rest, forever more still in your earthen home beneath our lilac tree, and your loss of life will act as a strength to its roots in the coming hard winter months. In your death, you shall give the tree life. You will be missed.
  2. Weehoooooo!!! I thought we'd have a hard time settling on a name. My husband told me he looks like a "bad guy." I could see he wanted to go Gladiators, but that wouldn't do... Tried to think of our favorite bad guys and villains. But I don't want a mean fish. So, who's a bad guy that everyone loves? http://giphy.com/gifs/back-to-the-future-biff-marty-mcfly-66r2EQo5nPQZO (this should be embedded, but I don't know how to use the world wide web, so humor me and click, please ) BIFF TANNEN! Anyway, QT flew by, and he's awesome! In he goes, before I overthink things! I can't believe he's smaller than some of my bigger guys.. I mean they're all pretty small, but he just seems huge. Anyway! That's mah boy.
  3. Since Jenna did at least 3 rounds of prazi on my new fish before she mailed him to me, I moved him into my 55 gallon today with the others and treated the entire tank with prazipro Btw, I decided to name him Jersey since he came from there Here is Jersey [emoji813] Here are all 4 that are in the 55 gallon. I think I'm going to move the ranchu into my 29 gallon soon though. The 55 gal
  4. World Traveler

Or at least a half the country traveler. Jenna bought this fish for me over a month ago and has been taking excellent care of him She shipped him on priority mail one day mail on Wednesday. So he was supposed to get to my house Thursday. he was MIA until my mailman tracked him down last night. I had to drive down town to the main city post office to pick him up because I was scared he wouldn't live another night in a bag He's doing great today! Swimming around and being a good little fishy! He weighs 12.7 grams. Here is a video when we all first woke up this morning I'm thinking about naming him Jersey or Lucky
  5. New Marty Photoshoot

As many of you know, we bought a new fish a few months ago - a calico telescope named Marty. He's been in a 60 litre until last night. He went into the larger tank during a water change and stayed there. Here a couple of photos of him in his new digs. Thank you for looking
  6. New fishy!

I recently got a new goldfish so I thought I'd share some pictures. Meet Seaking! And here he is with Goldeen. I hadn't realized how fat she'd gotten until I got Seaking. Also, I wanted some advice on his tail? I bought him as a fantail, but, unlike my Goldeen, his tail isn't split? I tried to get some pictures, but he'd rather mooch around for food than pose for me so these were the best I got.
  7. Meet Marty

    Meet Marty, our new fish!
  8. Hello I was reading a D&D thread and saw the frog eye trait. I believe my oranda has them. Let me find a few pictures. The first two are more recent. The last one is quite old.
  9. Artie

Here is a photo my girlfriend took of Artie last time we were home:
  10. Hi there, I am a newbie here at KoKos and am loving all that I have read. There are some fantastic goldfish on here and so much to learn. I would like to get some beautiful calicos and I went to the store today to pick some up. The calicos there seem to have some greyish film like stuff on them. It wasn't coming off and was thick enough to hide the fish's colour under it. I was wondering if anyone here knows what this is. I have heard that its the fish's natural colour. Its changing colour,it has a disease.....etc I would love to know quickly if anyone knows what this is. Thank you so much umm im not sure how to download the picture either hmmmm
  11. So after looking over all the oranda tanks at Star Fisheries for a very long time, we finally decided on a young calico oranda. The decision was made easier by the fact that I wanted a smallish young fish, so that I can grow him on, along with my other two babies, and there were a lot of big (and some giant!) orandas. Also, a lot of them had recently been imported from China, and were looking quite flat and sad to be honest, which made me sad. This guy on the other hand looked happy and active, dorsal fin right up. He also had some very handsome tank mates, but Baz reeled me in and I just came home with the one! I'm also hoping that his gorgeous markings will compliment my two other fish. Anyway, please meet Matcha, named after the drink I was holding when I saw him... The photo doesn't do him justice, but its all I've got for now, he's chilling in his qt tub at the moment so I don't want to stress him by taking photos, I'll get some better pics tomorrow. He's really a side view fish, his markings and his fins are just lovely
  12. New Shubinkins

Hey, y'all! Here is a picture of my new shubunkin brood. I hope y'all enjoy the pictures! http://s7.photobucket.com/user/amorecondannato/library/Goldfish?sort=3&page=1
  13. Hey guys! So here are some pics of my babies and their home Midnight- Black Moor Bruiser- Calico Telescope (I think...boo blurry) Puff- Blue Oranda Hope you like em
  14. Butterfly tank update

We're about halfway done with prazi rounds and yesterday I painted the tank bottom and background black. I still have yet to name my fishies. Nothing has truly stuck so far so maybe you guys have some ideas? The whiteish one is a female and the one with the red dot on its head is a male.
  15. My new butterflies

I ordered them from buygoldfishonline.com last week to be tank mates with my baby fish, but my baby fish didn't make it through qt ): sigh. Soooo, the 40 breeder is now going to be a butterfly tank (plus baby BN pleco). These little guys were shipped last night and came in this morning so they're in good shape I practically waited by the door all day to make sure they weren't going to sit in the hot sun when they arrived as my doorbell is a little iffy lol.... Video from when I first unpacked them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-T549eS1rw
  16. hi all!, i went to my LFS this morning to buy some guinea pig food and whilst i was waiting to be served i had a sneaky peek at the fishies (as you do ) and i saw this gorgeous little guy just begging to come home with me! how could i resist? http://s1336.beta.photobucket.com/user/ema0140/media/481B3BFF-9B4C-48F4-9AC6-7DF39160B288-16280-00000AEA9E162741_zpscf316e8b.jpg.html
  17. I post show offs too often.

I feel like I'm constantly posting topics in here! But that can't be a bad thing right? I went home this weekend and brought the camera with me which means pictures of Roosevelt and Cider! Button eye side! Sorry her gills are a little red, she gulps when I do WCs even though I leave the bubbler on Admiring herself! OR looking at my mom down the hall. Cider's slight calico markings have darkened a bit! Cider is thinking "omg there is a butt in my face" While Roos forages away. Weny, wen wen Cider eying me suspiciously. OMG IS THAT REPASHY?!
  18. Congrats what a great shot tell us about this fish http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u499/Googs09/googs6_zps65dc7e77.jpg
  19. My Large Orandas

These are my oranda. I am pretty obsessed with them. They are recovering nicely. The black/green oranda and the calico are new. Gifts from my neighbor for almost killing my fish. My black/green oranda And my kitty being good and just looking... not touching... They are still recovering but are almost 100%!
  20. New tankmates :)

Hi everybody. Since i have lost my Calico Fantail "Pusling" and my Redcap "Buller", i really needed cheering up. What better way to remind myself that life life goes on, than getting new buddies? So i have bought 2 new babies on 21st of January 2012. One is a tiny Calico Fantail and the other a little Orange Fantail. I dont know the gender of either fishie yet. They also dont have any names yet, so feel free to suggest names. The new fish are so very tiny compared to my big Orange Fantail Tvilsen, but so far all is good After buying them, they spent first week getting treated with Prazipro in QT tank. And i will continue Prazi treatment in main tank, including the "old" fish too. Here the cuties are...Enjoy
  21. 2012 first purchase- calico ranchu

Pardon the poor pic. Here is my first purchase for 2012. He is a calico ranchu. Around 3 inches. He is in my main tank now since he came from a fellow hobbyist and not from an lfs.
