  1. I hope I can give you all the info you need to help me, so I'll try. Sorry I don't have water parameters, but I feel like it's an emergency. Also, the water is all fresh and I slowly got her used to the water before I put her in. Penny is 4 and a half years old and not the healthiest fish in the world. She was in a 55 with 4 other goldfish. I have just moved her to a 20 gallon hospital tank today. She's been having issues with bloating for a while now. I've tried all different kinds of foods and they all made her bloated. The black on her belly looked like it was going away, but then stopped and hasn't gone away. There is also black on the bottom of her tail. She was doing ok in the hospital tank after I fed her because she hasn't been getting enough nutrition. I fed her the frozen blood worms that I bought at petsmart. She was looking perkier and more active. Then I made a mistake. I saw a hair sticking out of her mouth and tried to pull it. I think I accidentally hurt her. I stopped when I saw a blood worm and some blood come out of her mouth. Now she's just sitting on the bottom. I put in stress coat because I figured I stressed her out really bad. I'm not sure if I fed her too much or if I hurt her. Can anyone help me?
  2. One of my fishes got 2of such jellylike parasite that suck on the slimcoat of my fishes when I 1st bought it 2mths back..now it has spread to few other fishes and I had to pluck it out! Noticed some bigger ones will leave a red mark I did put a heavy dose of Waterlife Myxazin and then API Melafix and both couldnt do e job of killing it (did it on a small cup with the parasite) only hot water kills it instantly and I have started to heat up my tank water as well as Myxozin to treat the fish that has the most parasite +fin rot (overnight)+ red blood vein on the tailfin. Are these parasites harmful?
  3. I'm sorry for the CAP title, but this is so urgent and im in hell now.....my tank full of parasite...I have no clue about these cuz never seen them before...I cant not tell if these come from my goldfishes or from the garden soil I used for the potted plant.....Just saw 2 last night and now like 30 of them in there...small one is white while the mature one is yellowish..... http://s206.photobucket.com/user/longmeo60/media/IMG_4689_zps751cc454.mp4.html the water parameter is perfect 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 0 nitrate.
  4. Mystery bump on side of redcap oranda . first noticed yesterday after last spawn session 3 days ago and thought it to be an injury from rough spawn play. but today it looks to be a small round white dot(growing ?) attached to, on or worse through scale and causing irritation to skin. there is also some slight sweeling at the wound site too , I think.. All other fish look fine . I do not think that I ever seen exactly this from any parasite that have in past attacked my fish such as anchor worm or worse but there are many hundreds of kinds . Now wish to ID this in order to decide upon if needed the correct treatment and welcome comments and ideas from all members.

I will try shortly I have noticed that my Ryukin goldfish seem to have paracitic worms that come partly out of their mouth when they flex their mouth when and shortly after eating. No other signs of sickness have persinted their self except the red ryunkin started sitting on the bottom some after seeming to fight with the parasites in its mouth for a little while. Now seems to be back to normal in behavior though. What might these parasites be and how do i fix the problem? Thank you all for whatever help you can give.
  6. My fantail Blub has made poos that are anywhere from his body length (1.5") to SIX TIMES his body length....and when he does they are stringy and light to white color . they say 'the amount he will eat in 5 minutes" but i feel like he goes so crazy at feeding time that he'll eat the whole bag of hikari if i put it in there... i feed him a combo of Hikari Staple Hikari Gold Staple Saki-HIkari romaine lettuce bits green pea mashed without shell blood worms every 2 weeks (maybe 10 tiny worms) Also I feed him a combo of the Hikari foods together. i would say that i feed him a total of 8 baby pellets at a time Please advise if any of this seems wrong Thanks!
  7. Hello everyone! I was just wondering how to tell the difference between fish parasites that have escaped into the water and other water dwelling creepiness. My question comes up because I keep finding these squirmy things in my tank water. I'm currently doing a fishless cycle on a 55 gallon using an established filter, and now I'm starting to see small worm things floating around Thanks in advance everyone!
  8. just wondering if people have formulated a better treatment regime with prazi than the one recommended on the bottle(aquamaster fluke & tapeworm tablets 100mg). recommended dose is once then do 25% water change & clean filter medium. redose is 7 days later. i've picked up on a few people adjusting the dosage rate for more effective removal of the pest & would like to hear what worked for people & what didn't. also am confused as when to return activated carbon to the filter. it says to remove for the duration of the treatment but not when to put it back in!! would the "duration" include the 7 days between doses? cheers for your input!
  9. One day I saw my goldfish, Finny, shivering around like a vibration. Then I saw a red patch of ripped off scales that made a stream of blood. My other goldfish, Orango, was trying to help. I don't think my koi fish or algae eater fish did it. They were really nice. I googled Itchy Scales and I found out about a parasite. I rushed Finny out of the tank and into a bucket. I put some towel wrapped ice on his side gently. He didn't make it. About 3 months later, Orango, Yoshii the koi fish, and Flick the algae eater got huge and my house had no space, so we gave them away.
  10. I don't remember seeing spots when i first got aquarium which was more than 5 months ago. However then i had non-functioning aquarium bulb and probably did not notice this because these spots are noticed easier under lighting, especially under specific angle. I couldn't shoot high quality photos because i don't have tripod and had to hold camera with one hand and fish in another hand, but here is what i shot (both fishes have same problem but i shot only one): •4.7 gals since middle 2011 when i got aquarium •JEBO water filter •Until yesterday 2 time a week 90% of volume, from yesterday will change 3 times a week, 50% •Today last water change, 50% •2 goldfish of small size i guess •No water additives, only dechlorinator •Flakes in the morning, pellets in the evening •No new fish ever •No medications so far •Maybe one has little frayed spot on one side
  11. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level 0ppm * Nitrite Level * Nitrate level N/A * Ph Level, 7.5 Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) * Ph Level, Tap 7.8 (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API strips and drops * Water temperature? 74 fahrenheit * Tank size (how many gals.) 55 gallons and how long has it been running? 2 months * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Aqua clear 70 * How often do you change the water and how much? 25% 2x a week * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 25% Thursday * How many fish in the tank and their size? 6 small 1-2 inch * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Tetra water conditioner * What do you feed your fish and how often? Hikari purple bag * Any new fish added to the tank? no * Any medications added to the tank? Prazi-pro * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. 10 tsp salt in the 55, I only did that because I read that the salt can sometimes make the prazi less effective, I started prazi after my water change yesterday. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? my red cap breathes at the top a lot so I was worried it might be gill flukes, there is plenty of oxygen I have a bubble wand and airstone on a tetra 100g air pump, also , this is my main concern because I can see it, my calico ryukin has a couple white lines on him, they are small and do not look like anchor worm, I couldn't find any good pictures of what I am seeing online, but they do appear to move. I have only done one dose of prazi and my carbon is removed from the filter. I did 2 and 1/2 tsp. because dosage says 1 tsp per 20 gallons. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? No, all are eating great and being social, just one breathes at the top a lot I would just like some second opinions or confirmations on what I think my fish have as I have not had goldfish since high school.
