  1. Here is the answers to your questions. Dixie, what kind of lighting do you have on your tank, how many watt to be exact? 15 watt floresent tube. Came with the 30 gallon tank. Seems very bright. And how many gallon is the tank? 30 Gallon. 1 Lg. Oranda. Brown algae could mean at least two things - not enough lighting, or a high reading of phosphates or other kinds of high nitrate readings. Can you tell me the exact number for the nitrates? 40 ppm. 0 nitrite 300 gh(hard) 180 kh 7.8 ph. What do you think?
  2. everyone: I have a bad case of brown algae. One Oranda in a 30 gallon tank. Very good readings. How do I get rid of it? Please Advise.
  3. I have been treating curly for ick with Nox-Ick for over a week. Today I am giving him a break. There has been no Ick on his body for 3 days, but on his tail is several white spots the size of a dull pencil point. His tail looks like it may be starting to shred. His tail has red streaks in it. Maybe I should change treatments? He has used Nox-Ick before with no problem. (this is his 4th time with ick. ) All readings are great. I do a weekly water vaccume and change. He is eating and seems fine otherwise. But the tail worries me. Please advise what to do....
  4. Hi everyone, I have been using amiqul for the water. I have also prime. I have not used prime before. This is all I have for now. But my question is.. prime is only 2 drops per gallon of water. amiqul is double that... Do you think prime will work with taking out all of the chems, with such a little amount. Let me know, I am doing a water change tonight. Thank you.. Dixie
  5. Love to look at the Fish and to see what is new....
  6. Only one right now. Curly is all alone in a 30 gallon tank. All the room in the world as far as he is concerned
  7. Well everyone thank you, but precious died . He was a good fish. Now curly is alone. :crp I think I will keep it that way, at least for now. Water had perfect readings. I do weekly water changes. I have a thirty gallon tank, and I take 10 gallons out every week and siphon the bottom of the tank every week also.

  9. He is very round and I have been giving him peas. He is now upside down and so big he looks like he is going to pop. He anus, is very big and pink. He looks like he is so constapated. Or maybe it is something else. I don't think he has been pooping. It they any thing beside peas that will help or could it be a inside infection? Please help.
  10. I'm so sorry for your Loss.. We do love our Babies You did everything you could.
  11. Hi Everyone. I came home Thursday night to find My Scooter (Rubberlip Pleco) had died. . I had not had him for long. But he was a great little Scooter. I called him Scooter, because of the way he Scooted around the tank. . He will be missed. I will get another one later. Maybe I need to study up on them more. It is hot here in San Jose and My 30 gallon was 84. My Goldies are fine. I don't know if it was the heat or maybe he did not have enough to eat? I could not give him algae disks because My Little Piggies would eat them first. But I really don't know and won't know what killed him. :crp
  12. Come on guys.. Kellys not looking very good.
  13. Hi All: My Grandaughter has a comet her name is Kelly. Really it is her Mom that takes care of her. She is in a 10 gallon tank. I must admit, they do not take very good care of Kelly (as far as our standards here). She does not do regular water changes <_< . Kellys tank is cycled, she has been in it for a least a year. The last time there was a water change, was when I was there and did it for her and showed her how. Anyway, Kellys fins and long beautiful tail is now shredding. I am thinking it could be fin rot or just the bad water conditions. She is going to do a 50 % water change and I advised her to add 2 tablespoons of aquarium salt to the tank. Do you think we should medicate or if she does regular water changes, that Kelly will heal? Does shredding mean fin rot.? Please advise and I will pass it on to her. Thank you
  14. Another thing you may check is the water treatment you put in the water. My water here has choloramines in it. Some treatments only take care of the chlorine. Chloramines will kill fish. Read the label, see if it takes care of Chloramines. I use AmQuel. Sorry about your fish Don't give up..
