  1. Yeah I'm not entirely sure I got him from petco a long time ago and like I said hasn't always been this fat it's a recent thing. I should have time this week to fill out the check list. Last water test I did on my tank was fine though and the tap water was good
  2. Okay thanks guys ill work on that checklist today
  3. Okay so I recently revamped my tank after joining this forum. Got a heater, another HOB filter, a heater, weekly water changes, sinking pellet food instead of flakes. One of my fish has swelled up his belly is about the size of a golfball at first I thought he was just fattening up from better living conditions but it's getting a little ridiculous. Not sure if the fish is pregnant or something else is wrong. I hope someone can help before it explodes
  4. I just have gravel and I'm using omega one small sinking pellets

    Help

Well my goldfish have been eating flakes as long as I've had them and after joining this website I tried switching to sinking pellets after I saw a couple people tell me that floating foods aren't the best for goldfish but I think my fish are just so used to eating floating foods they have trouble trying to eat sinking pellets when I watch they miss most of them when they try to eat them and when I do partial water changes I find uneaten pellets tucked away in corners and I know im not giving them too much. I'm thinking I'll either try larger pellets or if someone could point me towards a good floating food.
  6. You think getting rid of the carbon will mess up my water?
  7. No all I have in my filters are the sponge Carbon bag and the biofilter. So maybe I'll hit up petco and try finding one of those
  8. No not really it might get some light through the door that's near to it. What kind of schedule should I keep the lights on I usually try to have them 12 hours on and 12 hours off. Do you think the type of lightbulb could have an affect? And yeah I was pretty surprised to see my results I figured I was gonna have high ammonia levels or something. Eh. I wouldn't immediately expect high ammonia, since you probably have a nice little army of nitrifiers in your tank to take care of it. I was more expecting high nitrates.Unless you have plants or the room they're in is dark, the lights are basically only for you. So if you have to have them on for an extended period, just do 8-9 hours on. Okay thanks for all the help I'm glad to know the water quality is good just have an algae problem I guess. I might look into a UV sterilizer

  11. Have off Friday night and all my gear so I'll post my test results soon!
  12. Sorry I have been taking so long. Been working crazy hours. But python seachem and and API GH and KH test kit will be here Monday and API master freshwater test kit on Wednesday and ill let you guys know the results!
  13. No, there's no need to move the fish. You can add the conditioner (for the full amount of the tank's volume) right before you add the water back in. This is how most people do it. Prime works quickly and well, so it's no problem. Got test kit python and seachem coming in the mail you want I should give you the water test results before or after the water change?
  14. Okay thanks the python definitely seems like it would make things easier so I guess you add the conditioner one the water is in the tank should I put my fish in a separate container while I do the water change?
  15. Ill get the rest to you once I buy a test kit
