  1. The dark color of the affected area is already starting to go away after just a couple of swabs with Hydrogen Peroxide. It still doesn't look like a "hole" underneath to me...and the fish is still eating and acting 100% normal. So I guess that is all good news....and yes Koko I am changing the water morning and night and using Prime because I don't want to worry about Ammonia.
  2. Thank you. Yes I have both Hydrogen Peroxide and Metromeds so I will go ahead and set up a QT tank now. I will make updates I think I will have to do a bucket to bucket QT with this guy, changing the bucket 2x per day. I already have a QT set up with my new arrivals from ECR and space is limited. I hope that is an okay plan.
  3. Good! He has made a full recovery, did well in QT and is now in the main tank
  4. Thank you. Yes I have both Hydrogen Peroxide and Metromeds so I will go ahead and set up a QT tank now. I will make updates
  5. Here are my two beautiful new fish from ECR. One is a jumbo bronze oranda and the other is a Stewie Griffin offspring ranchu. I will be doing the QT in a brand new 40B tank (thanks Petco dollar per gallon sale!) and they are currently acclimating in a sterilite tub. After talking with Cynthia I will be doing the 0.1% salt and Prazi protocol. Here is a video and picture: File_000.mov
  6. I just went to have a closer look at the red spot...it felt soft as though it was part of the wen and did not appear to be a "hole." It does not look any better/worse today. Hopefully this additional info can help with diagnosis
  7. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) 0 * Ammonia Level(Tap) 0.5 * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrate level(Tap) 0 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) pH=8.0 KH=90 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) pH=8.0-8.2 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API Drops * Water temperature? 77F * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 40 B for about 4 months * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Aquaclear 50-2 of them * How often do you change the water and how much? Weekly 50-80% A couple of days ago I noticed a dark area that seemed to be "deep" in the wen, so not on the surface. Today it is more visible and is on the surface, but it extends into the wen, hard to tell in these photos. Hoping this is not something too serious! The fish is acting 100% normal otherwise. * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 5 * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 fish, both about 3" * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Seachem Prime, baking soda * What do you feed your fish and how often? 2-3x per day, NLS Thera A and repashy * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? No * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Salt and Prazi per QT schedule as outlined in Koko's Forum, this was back in Sept * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? No * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? No otherwise acting totally normal
  8. Does anyone know of the best/easiest way to accomplish this? I am preparing for a couple of new fish from ECR and I need to get everything that I will use during QT ready for their arrival. I would like to do the QT in a 40 breeder but that means using buckets for the water changes will be too much of a pain..
  9. Wow, they have already grown so much since you got them! I am really impressed-thank you for posting new pics and the video!
  10. Good luck! Did you see my updated ECR thread? I started it for you OMG that is awesome, it will be cool to see how other fish from her are doing! I will go look for your new thread now
  11. Thanks! I know she puts so much work into breeding and raising her fish I will clean my old equipment the best I can and hope everything turns out ok. Luckily I have not had any major illnesses in my tank but reading her care sheets had me really worried anyways. I will start a thread like you did and hopefully everything will go well!
  12. Hi! I am just wondering how these fish are doing and do you have a newer thread about them? I just ordered my first fish from ECR and I will not receive it for a couple of weeks. I was planning on just cleaning all my stuff that I already have (10 gallon QT tank, aquaclear 20, syphon and bucket, etc) but then I got the link about how to care for them and I am really freaked out! She says bleach and water is not enough to old clean equipment...should I get all new stuff for QT for the new fish? Also I was planning on putting the new one in with an oranda I already have that was bought at a LFS a few months ago (after the QT period of course)...but now I am too freaked out! I just want everything to go well!
  13. Thank you! I was beginning to lower the salt back down to 0.1% since the first week of QT is over but I will bump it back up to 0.3% and do the hydrogen peroxide swab as suggested!
  14. I tried to take more pictures just now but they are not turning out so well...I can try again tonight. I just felt it and the bump feels soft and when I tried to scrape it the white part started to scrape off but didn't come all the way off, so now it is sort of just hanging there. When I got this fish it just had a red area on the tail which I thought might just be an abrasion but the last couple of days it is forming this white growth on top of it. I hope that helps
