  1. Really? that's really sad to hear.
  2. It's really hard to find medications here. Luckily my LFS is good for having medications for fish. Usually not brands that I ever seen mentioned anywhere but they work
  3. That could be really cool. I've currently got one female guppy but she's been with me for almost a year so I don't think she will be with me for much longer
  4. Here in Ontario its hard to find a lot of things because of laws and rulings that come with shipping fish and plants
  5. I'd love to try a SW tank but all of my local aquarium stores are freshwater only
  6. Hey everyone I've been planning my first nano tank. I'm new to this and I've noticed that there isn't many discussions online about nano tanks. If anyone would like to share pictures of their tanks, what fish or plants are in their tank, any tips you might have and anything else regarding nano tanks. To start with my tank I'm starting a planted 5 gallon tank with java fern, java moss and Anubias. So far I haven't decided if I want nano fish or shrimp in the tank.
  7. I've never heard of them before. Do you know where you can get them in Canada?
  8. I know not many fish can go into a 5 gallon but sadly that's as large as I can go so I'm just trying to come up with ideas that will make a decent tank and happy fish. I wasn't aware that there were freshwater clown fish. I thought all were saltwater
  9. I was thinking about shrimps but I've had a hard time with them in the past. I have moss balls currently in my tank
  10. I'm a first time nano tank owner, long time goldfish owner. I'm looking to start a nano tank for in my dorm room. I have a strong filter, 5 gallon tank with a light and a heater. I'm looking for a less common fish than a betta for my tank. I was thinking one dwarf/pea puffer for in the tank. I know I would be live feeding and have the time to feed and do many water changes that comes with that. or a small amount of another type of fish if anyone has any ideas. I plan to put a couple easy plants in the tank but not too many because I have minimal good experience with aquarium plants. Does anyone have any tips for a beginner or any ideas to help me plan my tank? All ideas are welcome. Thank you ahead of time to anyone who offers any ideas or tips.
  11. Thank you for the advice. I emptied the tank and I'm cleaning everything with bleach right now
  12. he seemed very healthy In the store besides a crooked peduncle that caused her to swim a little funny. the first two days it was even coming up and eating pellets right below my hand
  13. I will try to get the better kit. Sadly I live in a very small town and that api test strips were all I was able to get from our small petvalue. The fish didn't display the symptoms when I got it. about a day after I got it it started hiding other things which I assumed was from the high current of the filter that was too large and strong. Yesterday it started the bottom sitting and clamped fins. I only had it for a week. I just woke up and the fish has passed. Very beginning of dropsy was there with a small amount of pine coned scales around the gills. Thank you for your help
  14. Thank you. ive been on the site for a couple years but this is my first problem

  16. I recently got a new goldfish (oranda) and ive been having issues with it bottom sitting, clamped fins and I don't believe it is eating. I have not seen signs of bacteria or an external parasite. It is currently the only fish in the tank and the tank has been running a fishless cycle for a little over a month. My fish is in a 20 gallon tank with a filter. Up until today (4 days with the fish in the tank) the filter was too strong and the fish is very small. I got a filter that was correct for the tank because it had been pushing around the goldfish. The new filter is very soft and doesn't push the goldfish. I have tested my water quality and everything is in range that it should be, no ammonia or nitrates and the temperature is at 22 Celsius. Does anyone have any suggestions of what the problem might be or how to help the fish? Thank you ahead for any help
  17. I have a fancy goldfish tank with 2 male, 2 female and one that I haven't found the sex of yet. Both of my males have been chasing both the females. Does anyone know any way of stopping the males from chasing so much. I am not home to float the females for 3 days in a row and I'm nervous the males will hurt the females is there any other way to stop the spawning and keep the females safe?
  18. Maybe this picture is a little better? I have the same decorations in my tank
  19. okay thank you. I've tried moving him temporarily but every time I put him back in the tank he tries again. this time I will move him permanently to a new tank
  20. My male black moor has been chasing my two female calico telescope eye fish. Is there any way I can stop my male fish from trying to spawn?
