  1. Starting on medi-gold since there's no response here. Thanks anyway.
  2. Hi! Posted a few a week or two ago on Zoom. Water quality hasn't changed since then, just had a quick question. I did the 7 day rotation of melafix for her bacterial infection, but as soon as the water was changed, it came right back. She also has what appears to be a growth on her side, which is starting to protrude out in a way that may be affecting her breathing on one side. I'm almost convinced at this point that it's a tumor. I've been considering medi-gold, since it apparently also treats bacterial infections to some degree, but the question is this: Zoom is the only fish of three who has been effected by whatever this infection is at all. The other two show no signs of it. Is it safe to be feeding medi-gold to the entire tank, knowing this? Sadly, I have no tank for quarantine and no way to separate the 55 gallon so that only she would get to eat it. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8P7FtdZ2zWsOEh6SVRYM3I5X3M&usp=sharing Zoom is the white fish. It's difficult to get a good picture with an iphone. The tumor is on the left side as she's facing the camera. She's been both lethargic and non-lethargic, still eats readily, and still chases the other fish.
  3. Done as instructed, and the pimple seems to be going away on its own. Yay!
  4. Same red bump as before, except now it has some white stuff on it. I can only assume that it's puss of some kind. Hasn't grown at all.
  5. Yup, it did the pimple thing as expected, unfortunately I don't have a place to quarantine poor fishy, but water change is inc. Is there any medicine that needs to be used, or is it just a WC and done?
  6. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) - 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) -0 * Nitrate level(Tank) - 5.0ppm Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? - API Master Kit * Water temperature? - 74f * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? - 55 gallon, 6 months * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? - Marineland C-360 Cannister Filter * How often do you change the water and how much? - 50% every 2 weeks * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? week ago, 50% * How many fish in the tank and their size? - 2 fancy goldfish, 3 inches * What kind of water additives or conditioners? - Prime * What do you feed your fish and how often? - Twice a day, Omega One pellets * Any new fish added to the tank? - No * Any medications added to the tank? - Aquarium Salt, probably .05% or less. * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. - None other than the salt currently in the tank * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? - Bump under the fish's scales that is red in color. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? - No http://i57.tinypic.com/10p3q87.jpg Noticed it this morning, Zoom has developed a strange red bump under her scales. Might be difficult to see since her scales are both matte and metallic. Has been acting fine and eating well, doesn't seem to be bothering her. Perhaps she just ran into something or took a beating from her tankmate? Added a small amount of aquarium salt to the tank (Can't have too much since I have three apple snails) just in case, otherwise just observing for now. Any ideas? Thanks
  7. I actually ended up giving two of them away to my LFS, and keeping the other two. This posting is no longer relevant, but thanks for your interest!
  8. Hi guys! Unfortunately it seems as though my fishies are becoming too much work for me, so I'm looking to rehome them. I have three fancies (two fantails and 1 ryukin) who are just about a year old. I also have a 15 gallon tank that I'm willing to throw into the mix if you happen to want one. All of them are free to a good home if you're in the lower Illinois (normal/bloomington) area and are able to pick them up. Unfortunately I have no vehicle. Thanks, hope there's someone around who wouldn't mind taking my babies!
  9. Do goldfish have "fish packs"? lol Wow, thanks! And I agree with you on the sticking of human traits onto an animal, we do it with cats and dogs all the time. And it's crazy for me, but I've strongly considered becoming a marine biologist just so I can study goldfish and find out why they do things. lol
  10. This might sound completely silly, but after all this time in fishkeeping, I've started to think about the weird questions in life. Like, if goldfish are a 100% man made creation, do they even truly understand what "the wild" is? Can they miss something they've never experienced? Do they care at all? Do they ever get bored in that box of water? What questions have you asked yourself that there are no answers to? xD
  11. http://i59.tinypic.com/n4dz85.jpg New FISHIEEEEE!!!! <3
  12. It's weird, he pretty much stopped the behavior. No idea what brought it on in the first place, and nobody was hurt. Those fishes, man. They crazy!
  13. None of the tails look like they've taken any damage yet, surprisingly. The other fish are pretty good at getting away lol
