  1. SBD Floater

He's back to normal swimming after a night of being upside down. I knew it would leak nutrients, but the idea that pellets expands if not soaking them makes sense logically. But okay I trust ur experience. For duckweed, I'll be getting it from the LFS. How do I make sure, none of the nasty parasites don't get transferred with the duckweed to my oranda, which would contaminate my main tank Do I Prazi the duckweed? How much do duckweed do I put in the bin? Also, are you suggesting me to net the oranda out twice a day to feed it? Thanks for the advice!
  2. SBD Floater

ugh!!! I haven't had time to get alternative food. Soaked 10 pellets for 10 minutes and gave it to my oranda, he's been fasting for 2 days. Why is he floating? The foods already expanded in the water from soaking... Is feeding my goldfish green peas as a staple an option?
  3. SBD Floater

My oranda recently started to float upside down after each eating session. Been floating on and off for past week. I've been feeding him the same stuff for almost a year now, omega small sinking pellets without any issue until now. He's grown twice the size, but now he's starting to float? Not sure what to do. He's floating upside down after every meal. He recovery takes like 8-10 hours, before he can swim properly again. I know the standard procedure is fast 2-3 days, feed peas. Afterwards, though when I go back to feeding him the omega one stuff, he floats. I'm thinking of trying to soak the pellets first. How long do I soak them? I don't want the nutrients to leak into the soaking water. 4. Salt in water

When you do in-fish cycling and the nitrite spikes aka new aquarium. Another case, is if you destroy you're cycle with medication or if you add new fish and there's a mini-cycle. The salt helps the goldfish breath, but doesn't remove the nitrite. I think like 0.1% salt concentration protects very high levels of nitrite. Only use aquarium salt and never table salt as it's different. So if you have like 5ppm+ of nitrite, add some salt. I think the calculations is gallons of tank water -> convert to ml and solve this equation 0.001 (0.1%) = amount of salt in grams/ml of tank water. Just for reference, my 75 gallons at 0.1% needs 283 grams of salt, which seems like a lot, but it's not.

  6. Floaty listless fish

Salt or no salt? There's a bunch of confusing threads about it... Hikari sayinig not to use it. Also, does salt affect API master test kit in any way? My nitrites are showing 0 after a few days of salting at 0.1% or is this a coincidence?
  7. Floaty listless fish

Soo... what order should I treat my main tank? I have access to the following, Hikari PRaziPro, Metro+ and Ich-X. and Salt. Or alternatively, I could take all 4 of them out into the 10 gallon and treat them there? Not sure if the parasites and other stuff would survive in the main tank without fish.
  8. Floaty listless fish

Do I treat the main tank with that? Won't that kill all my bb? Or do I wait for symptoms and treat in a 10g?
  9. Floaty listless fish

No, but I can get some. Hikari Metro+ 3.5oz? I've never used it before.
  10. Floaty listless fish

Yep, which is why I'm 100% sure what ever killed it will be in the main tank. I pulled him out into a QT tank after he got sick. I'm going to salt it and Prazi the main tank. The other fish seem fine so far...
  11. Floaty listless fish

He's dead. About 3 days since he showed signs. I'm pretty upset. This lionhead was my first one. Can you guys help me figure out what caused him to die? I opened up his gills and it's a pale white. He has a ton of stuff attached to his face between his mouth and eyes. Was definitely not this bad when I left for work this morning. A bit of blood in his eyes. White crap all over his fins. Treated him with Prazi last night and he died 24 hours later. I'm worried about my main tank as none of them have been quarantined. Should I just use the quarantine procedure on the main tank? Salt rounds then prazi?
  12. Floaty listless fish

Okay I'll take pictures/video after work. I went to get a 10g and quarantined him. He has no filter and a bubble tube. Day 1: I treated him with 0.3% salt. Day 2: - I removed the salt and added two doses of PraziPro (some people on the forum said not to use PraziPro with salt when they reached out to Hikari.) Day 3: Today Planning on following the Quarantine procedure by dnalex. I actually think it might be gill flukes. Symptoms: -Breathing heavily (I think? He keeps opening his mouth every second) -Every now and then some crazy rapid gill movements for a few seconds. Like he's trying to flush something out of his gills. Gill irritation. -Lethargic -Isolation -2 Inches from the surfaces and has no problem swimming up or down -Clear white poop super long. (Day 2 when 0.3% salt. Not sure if it's still like that) How long does it take to kill the flukes? Is the api water readings correct if I add Prazi?
  13. Floaty listless fish

Is Metro/Prazi affective against Costia? I seen anyone say that for treatments.
  14. Floaty listless fish

I can't find AP quick cure or Jungle parasite clear. I don't think I can get my hands on Acriflavin. What can I get that's at big al's canada or petsmart? Does Hikari Ich-X work? Prazipro? https://www.bigalspets.com/ca/
  15. Floaty listless fish

I think it's Costia. I've quarantined him and added 0.3% salt. If he doesn't look better when I get back from work, I'll go buy Quick Cure. Should I be worried about my main tank?
