  1. Thanks for your well wishes! I really had a lot of fun with it, but it's just not for me. I'm moving, and can't take the tank with me. But I found Lipstick a really good home! She has lots of space, cute friends, and knowledgable and caring people. They even thought of an awesome new name for her - Sugar Lips! Her colour changed ages ago, and she lost her orange 'lipstick'. I tried to change her name, but I kept calling her Lipstick so it didn't work! But Sugar Lips is perfect now that she's a gorgeous glowly metallic white It's been super fun to be a aprt of Kokos, I definitely would not have been able to keep my fish so happy and healthy without you guys

  4. Actually about a quarter of the tank is featured in my signature!
  5. haha the classic Kokos pic request! Just struggling with time, but I thought I would put the word out anyway Yep no more fish. I only have Lipstick left anyway, so I'm rehoming her. After more than 2 years of heartbreak I can't take any more. I hope so! It's all good stuff! Haha considering that ti takes 2+ people jsut to carry the empty dry tank... *shudders*
  6. Hi everyone, I'm selling my set up. Is anyone in Melbourne, Australia interested in a super delux upgrade? Includes the following: * 4x2x2 foot tank with glass cover, pine stand, and matching pine hood. * Eheim canister filter (1000 l/hour) * Eheim heater * 4 foot light * Air pump and bubble wall * Willing to throw in assorted accessories - Qt tank with filter, heater, light. Also prime, water treatments, medications, etc. All second hand but very well looked after, and in good condition. PM me for details
  7. Ok, thanks for the clarity. Gumshoe died last night, so we are only treating Lipstick now I have a smaller QT tank but I'm not sure when I will have time to set it up again. Will just have to do my best and see how it goes.
  8. I stopped feeding the medicated food as soon as I realised that I had misunderstood your instructions. I added the 200mg of metro powder for every 10 gallons of water to the tank the day before yesterday, so according to your instructions I should dose the tank again today yes? The packet did not have instructions so I am relying on you for guidance. As I previously mentioned, the instructions on the Tri Sulpha packaging said to dose the tank twice only, three days apart. This conflicts with your previous advice to keep the antibiotic concentration steady for an indefinite period of time. Can you please confirm that you think I should follow the recommended dosage and only replace the volume of medication lost with water changes? I have 450 litre (120 gallon) tank and I work three jobs - daily 100% water changes are not an option for me. I think the best I can do is to stick with the 7 day prazi schedule (2x per week water > 50% changes). I don't think that Ammonia and Nitrate will become a problem with this schedule given I have two small fish in 450 litres of water (120 gallons). Apologies for the excessive questions. I just can’t help but think that if I had clarified your plan and advice to begin with, then Panda might still be alive.
  9. Thank you. I'm trying. Apprarently doing the wrong thing though, and that mistake could well have cost Panda her life
  10. I have made my own Metro Meds using Helen's reciepe of Repashi and powdered Metro. So I am using both medicated food and waterborne anti-biotics. I thought this is what you suggested? No, I just meant waterborne Metro and Tri-Sulpha. I don't know Helen's recipe. I woke up to find Panda dead this morning. Very upset as I have had this fish for nearly two years. If you could please clarify your treatment plan ASAP that would be appreciated. I am really sorry to hear that your fish died. We generally recommend pairing Metronidazole powder plus another Broad Spectrum antibiotic to cover all types of bacterial infections. This is basically what is in Metro Meds food. I am not familiar with the food recipe that you are using and therefore can't speak to it's effectiveness. When I use powdered Metronidazole, I usually add 200mg per 10 gallons of water every other day per the package directions and I just add it to the water. It appears from the symptoms you mentioned, that your fish had Flukes and developed secondary bacterial infections as a result. The Prazi should kill the Flukes and the Metro and Tri-Sulpha should help with the bacterial infections. But, it is very important the the level of antibiotics in the system is consistent to ensure their effectiveness. How is the other fish doing? So I need to add metro into the tank water every second day, and Prazi once per week as per the Prazi Schedule. How often should I be adding the Tri Sulpha? Just replacing with every water change or more frequently??

Should I add Metro powder and Tri Sulpha into the water now then? How long should it stay in there at a constant concentration? And stop feeding the medicated food? As for the other fish, Gumshoe looks far worse than Panda did when I went to bed last night, and Lipstick is slightly better - at least swimming around.

  13. Will hopefully get a video up today, but unfortunately I have lots of commitments I can't reschedule.
  14. They seem to be getting worse not better. A lot of bottom sitting, very weird movement from Gummy (it seems like she has lost wiggle mobility through her body), and long white stringy poop - like a long fien cotton thread. Panda has developed white patches on her fins, which look a bit ich like, but will post pics and vids later this evening. I will remove the salt with my water change today. Yes, the salt is overkill. Let's get it out ASAP. Can you post a detailed account of the Metro and Tri-Sulpha treatment that you have administered as well as the current level of salt and dosage and type of Prazi? I did a 50% water change on Friay (Day 12 of the Prazi Schedule), and did not replace salt or prazi. That means salt is now at 0.15%. I have been double dosing Prazi Pro. In the absence of instructions from you, I followed the instructions on the bottle of Blue Planet Tri Sulpha. I administered one dose on the 4th of September and a second does three days later. With all the water changes for the prazi schedule, it is probably gone from the water now. Helen's Metro recipe is 500mg of finely crushed Metronidazole in 50grams of wet food (Repashi), and I have been feeding 1% of their body weight per day spread across 2 - 3 small feedings.
  15. I'm not sure Panda and Gummy are eating. Something weird is going on with their mouths. They are opening and closing them wider and more frequently than usual. And when they go to eat, they seem to be blowing the food away rather than sucking it in.
