  1. I have Kanaplex which it says the active ingredient is kanamycin sulphate.I also have triple sulfa. Can I put all of these meds in together? I dosed the metro yesterday and today, I also gave her one shelled pea today and she had a small poo earlier, it was brown though so I'll see how long it takes the pea to come through.
  2. It seems that you can only get it on prescription over here. I can't find any on eBay or anywhere else to get some imported.
  3. No, I've only ever fed her the medi-koi or put metro in the water as I thought the food already had metro in it. I gave her one dose of metro yesterday and no food. Today she has had no food and no medication as of yet. Do you think I should carry on putting metro in the water? With food or leave her fasting still?
  4. I do have some metronidazole in 500mg sachets. I put one in with her yesterday, it says do a partial water change and then dose again for at least 5 days but I thought I'd wait on advice from here before I did anything again. This will be the second day she hasn't been fed. Thank you all for your help by the way. It is very much appreciated.
  5. Thanks, Shakaho. Maybe it is decent stuff then? Romet B was in Metromeds I think. I hope it is ok, it's really hard to get decent stuff over here in the UK. There are a few places in the US that will ship it over though.
  6. It doesn't say what the medicated ingredients are. Whether that is to do with not being able to buy a lot of fish meds over the counter in the UK I don't know. I fed them for 10 days.
  7. Hi, Fantailfan. It's called Medi-koi Aqua Meds. With there being no Metromeds about anymore I decided to get this from the USA. The supplier said it had metronidazole in. I might have been ripped off, it cost me £70 to get 4lbs here but I just wanted to help my fish.
  8. Thanks, Dawn Thank you for the quick reply, I do have epsom salt and have used it in the past with good results but can it be mixed with other medications? Here are some pictures: Her redness looks worse when it's in the dark as you can see on this video. http://vid178.photobucket.com/albums/w256/HondaLad1987/WP_20151118_18_31_57_Pro.mp4
  9. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) 5 * Ammonia Level(Tap) - 0 * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrate level(Tap) 0 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API drop kit * Water temperature? 22.5 * Tank size (how many gals.) 70L/ 18 US Gallons, only been running 4 days as it is my QT tank * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Juwel 200 l/h * How often do you change the water and how much? I've been changing it daily about 80% * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Yesterday 80% * How many fish in the tank and their size? 1 Oranda approx 5 inches, she weighs 90 grams * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Generic chlorine remover from hardware store (Been using it 4 years, never had any problems with it) * What do you feed your fish and how often? Peas every couple of days, this fish seems to pinecone once every two months I think mainly from constipation so I stopped feeding them all sinking pellets as it was hard to seperate this fish from the others when giving them sinking pellets. I don't know if it's ok to just give them peas but they seem to love it and are growing well. I sometimes give them spinich on odd occasions too but not all of them take to it. * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? Seachem Kanaplex for one dose that lasts two days along with Melafix as because she's upside down her belly is starting to get red but I've just read on the forum that you can put vaseline on their bellies to stop that happening so I think I'll do that although her fins are starting to look frayed too and Melafix seems to have helped that on my other fish. I treated with metronidazole yesterday after doing a water change to see if that made a difference but nothing has changed so I thought I'd ask here before I do anything else. * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Please see above * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? She was pineconing really badly although she does do it every couple of months and I fed her metromeds which made her poo a lot and they swelling went down nicely and dissappeared. I've ran out of metromeds now but I got some metronidazole from the US and also the Seachem Kanaplex as I read on here it was good to have in stock. After treating with Kanaplex she started to go down but a couple of days ago she started floating upside down. Her right hand side had stopped being raised and her left had started to go down but it doesn't seem to be budging now. With this and her being upside down and now getting blood streaks on her belly I thought I'd ask on here before just chucking loads of meds at her. She pineconed about a month ago which I treated with medicated food and it went away but maybe the problem wasn't all gone. She is pooing but not very much and she is usually a very messy fish. I didn't know whether to fast her or give her peas or what. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? She is fine in herself apart from being upside down, she is still swimming around the best she can and keeps trying to right herself, more so today than in the last couple of days. For two nights I put her in a floating net hatchery so that her belly wasn't out of the water but I felt cruel doing it as it's only about 10 inches by 6 inches and she swam out of it one night but I was worried about her belly. With so many problems I wanted to ask on here but I don't know if they're all linked to constipation? Thanks in advance for your help.
  10. I also use Gamma frozen bloodworms and I've never had any problems with them. I find most places near me stock them so I don't think you'll have any trouble finding some from a local shop, garden center etc.
  11. I agree with Helen and think that the end should come off as it's hexagonal. Pipe wrenches are also called stilsons in the UK. I think it's a brand name that just caught on such as Hoover. I'm not sure if you'd be able to get on the hexagonable bit with a pipe wrench if there isn't much of the aereator sticking out. Do you know anyone with a socket set? Or you could get a cheap one like this for instance http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROLSON-TOOLS-40-PIECE-SOCKET-SET-36109-1-4-3-8-DRIVE-SOCKET-SET-/170726197501. If you measure across the flats of the hexagon it'll give you an idea of the size you need. Or maybe something like this would be better? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/231161657162?hlpht=true&ops=true&viphx=1&lpid=95&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=95 Please let us know how you get on and remember, lefty loosey, righty tighty!
  12. Hello everyone. Pepper is all better and back with her friends in the main tank. I'd just like to say thanks to everyone who helped me and Pepper out such as dnalex. Also a massive thank you to Becs, without you Pepper wouldn't be swimming around happily. I can't thank you enough.
  13. Thanks, I'll remember that advice in the future.
  14. Please do not drop down the dose. I am pretty sure I calculated enough for the duration of the treatment, but it was good that you asked for a little more. When you drop down the dose, you risk making the medication ineffective, allowing for the infection to come back. This is true with all other animals as well, including us. Should I of kept the does the same and then not given her any when I had ran out? I thought maybe it would be better to at least have some dose in her than none at all for a couple of days. I didn't know this might make the medication ineffective. Thank you very much
