  1. It is located in school. He built it himself.
  2. The fishkeeper gave me sturdy Sera bags and I used 2 to carry goldies to his pond. They feel a lot better now in a well maintained pond: http://imgur.com/qacbsYF http://imgur.com/d5iBt0j I have these supplies left which I bought in 2013: Sera Costapur - http://imgur.com/AK1Eu And Chemi Pure - http://imgur.com/QddhY Sera Costapur medication has expiry date of late 2013. ChemiPure is a fiter that I used. Do I get rid of both?
  3. Are ziplock bags to be used because they are made of food-safe material posing no harm to fish? I do not have ziplock bags. I have found transparent sheet protectors that are thick enough.
  4. I found nylon bag for protecting pages that has 6 holes that you put inside office binder. I think it will be one of options to consider. I will close it with plastic food sealing clip.
  5. Thanks for your reponses. Does it matter what kind of bag do I transport them in? Transparent nylon bag, not too thick for fish to adjust properly or shopping mall bag will do too? I may put them into former and former into shopping mall bag because I don't want anyone staring. Also what about aeration?
  6. Hello, I have been keeping 2 goldies in a 4.5 gallon aquarium for 2 years and decided to find someone who would be willing to take care of them and offer appropriate conditions. I found someone locally who has 300 litre pool with only goldies in it and would welcome my fishies. I use public transportation to move and don't know what would be the process of transporting and handling fishies. Is there something to consider when introducing fishies to new place of habitat that have to do with their adaptation? Is there a caution to consider in how other goldfish will respond to new goldfish? I heard stories where fish would eat other fish. One last thing. I use Prime dechlorinator to dechlorinate water. Today was first time that I forgot to use it when I changed 100% of water. I left goldfish in it for 1 minute until I put 2 drops of Prime into fishtank. Is there something to be concerned about? Thanks!
  7. Purple spots almost gone so I suspect it was pasta. Sticks have 02/17 expiration date on packaging but will need to find other food. Granules are too small for them, flakes create a mess... Here's information requested but it's partial: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? I don't have this * Water temperature? Can't tell at the moment. Rooms temperature is 30C if that helps. * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 20L, 2-3 years * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? JEBO * How often do you change the water and how much? 3 times per week, full tank * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Today, full tank * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 goldies, ~6" and ~4" * What kind of water additives or conditioners? None * What do you feed your fish and how often? Morning - 4-5 stripped geen peas. Afternoon - sticks/bread/rice flakes * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? No * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Bloody streaks could be on one in question, slightly noticeable on his face * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? No
  8. Hello, I have noticed occasionally one of goldies would have purple spots on top fin: http://i.imgur.com/ehSrXQp.jpg I didn't see purple fins on another goldie though. I have noticed this happens often after I feed him Tetra sticks: http://i.imgur.com/dKhrBcp.jpg I haven't fed goldie Tetra sticks for some time now but today I observed those purple spots again. It was after yesterday when I gave him ready pasta. Sometimes I would give goldies pasta and all would be okay. I think pasta I gave goldie yesterday causes purple spots. I can't be sure but is it known that goldies can have allergies? Thanks
  9. Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? Expert told me I don't need it yet being amateur so I don't. * Water temperature? 86.9 F * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? JEBO 4.7 gals, almost 2 years * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? JEBO. Size in dimensions? Don't remember wattage but I guess it's either 3W or 5W. * How often do you change the water and how much? 3 times per week. Several months ago started switching between 3 and 2 times per week. 90% water change. * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Today was 3rd time and tomorrow will be 4th. 90% * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 goldies: 1 big, 1 medium * What kind of water additives or conditioners? No additives, Seachem Prime dechlorinator * What do you feed your fish and how often? SERA pellets half year ago, then Tetra PondFood Color sticks as they grew big * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? No * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. There was no treatment * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Yes. In some occassions fishie in question was often floating next to surface with his fins protruding outside of water. It seemed as something was pulling him up as he tried to swim constantly down. Then next thing I saw were red/purple spots on upper fins and some were on tail but it has healed since. Could it be because fins were protruding from surface as he swam next to it. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Not until today as now he's constantly doing this gulping air thing with mouth, not excited as before and does no longer annoy another fish by chasing after.
  10. Hello. I think one of my fishies has dropsy and here you can see photos I took. I was advice to treat with magnesium sulfate that is found in Epsom salt aka English salt, metronidazole and kanamycin ingredients which are found in Seachem Metroplex and Seachem Kanaplex but I am outside of US and don't have luxury of wide selection of products. Local shops do not seem to have those but they may have Sera Baktopur Direct which company recommends to use with Sera Ectopur that should complement treatment. I have 35 litre container for quarantine and want to know what are the steps to proceed with treatment. When I use Epsom salt? Do I use it to prepare water and then dropsy medication? How often I change water and add Epsom salt again and is it safe to add both? Should proceed with procedure even if not absolutely positive about fish' dropsy condition because I don't know how treatment will impact fish provided condition is different. • 4.7 gals since middle 2011 when I got aquarium • JEBO water filter • 50% water changes - 3 times one week, 2 times another week and repeat • No water additives - only dechlorinator • Sticks in the morning • No new fish ever • No medications so far
  11. Toxins that are within rust is the issue here? Would covering it with enamel aerosol spraypaint be hazardous for fishies?
  12. Will i need to prepare used aquarium to suit my fishies? Is there any kind of cleaning required or sterilization?
  13. Have been having this problem for several months now. Thought sealing rubber on edges has gaps that caused water infiltrating inside bulb's compartment. Bought aquarium-safe silicone, closed gaps and still have same problem. Was thinking water comes through bulb's socket: I wanted to use white enamel paintspray on this rusty connector, but had to ask if doing so represents risk for the health of goldfish.
