  6. One of my orandas had a huge red glob under the tail. I took some pictures of it but then when I tried to get a better look, it was gone! It was about the size of a nickel. http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/tarannosaurus/20130521_1030551_zpsc7aa57e6.jpg My other oranda has really tattered bloody fins. http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/tarannosaurus/20130521_1036411_zps93281688.jpg http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/tarannosaurus/20130521_1037051_zpsf914a551.jpg My parents were taking care of my fish while I was out of town, so I'm not sure how long this has been going on for. ): I'll be right back with the water test results.
  7. Alright, makes sense. I appreciate the help. Thanks! (:
  8. Yeah, I have the API master test kit. I also use Prime. Maybe I could just buy a few gallons of distilled water?
  9. Yes, this sounds like what I was thinking. I didn't even think of my filter media yet though. I have a canister filter. Would I need to take all the media out of it? And for a water change what kind of water should I use?
  10. Hey everyone, I am moving in a couple of months from Georgia to New York. I am planning on driving so I needed some advice on how to transport my goldfish. I have two orandas and a telescope. We will probably be on the road for 2-3 days.
  11. Hey guys. I just checked the tap pH. It's 7.4. I don't have a quarantine tank, but I have kept the aquarium lights off. This is just on one eye. Any suggestions on what I could do?
  12. Please help... I accidentally dropped my fish onto tile while I was transferring her to a new tank. Her eye is bulging really bad. I feel awful. http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/tarannosaurus/Mushu_21_zps36b6f103.jpg http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/tarannosaurus/Mushu1_zps0c115f46.jpg * Ammonia Level (tank): 0 ppm * Nitrite Level (tank) 0 ppm * Nitrate level (Tank) 10 ppm * Ammonia Level (Tap): * Nitrite Level (Tap) * Nitrate level (Tap) * Ph Level, (Tank) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.0 * Ph Level, (Tap) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? 13. A UV sterilizer is already on my wishlist, believe me haha. Those are so nice.
  14. Oooh I see. So it must have really low lighting requirements?
  15. Okay, thanks for all the suggestions guys. I have sand substrate so I think it will be difficult to grow plants unless I used flower pots or some kind of tray with an appropriate substrate. Those plants in the photo look nice. Would I need to get anything else to grow plants besides a different substrate? And what kind would be suitable for those plants? I keep all the sides of the tank clean. There is no algae on the glass. I will also start doing water changes more frequently. Thanks again for all the help guys.
  16. I have those lights because I wasn't sure if I wanted to get plants someday.
  17. I figured it is algae. It's not in direct sunlight. You think it will go away on it's own? I'm not sure if I want my tank water to be green. Maybe my lights are making it worse... They are T5HO's.

  19. Okay, so four days ago my water was suddenly really green. I did a water change (four days ago), and now it's green again. I don't understand what is going on. My fish doesn't seem to be stressed out but still want to know. I just tested the water: pH: 8.1 ammonia: 0 nitrite: 0 nitrate: 30 I can't find that list of questions you guys want answered in new topics. I hope I got everything. Tank is 55 gallons Fluval 305 canister One goldfish (Oranda) Pro-Gold twice a day 30-40% water changes every two weeks 68 degrees F Sorry if I missed something.
  20. No worries. I can't even imagine how confusing it can get. And that's good to know about the salt. Thanks for the advice.
  21. Yes, there is salt in there now. I added what the box recommended on Friday which was 11 tablespoons. And yes, it is cycled. No, I did a fishless cycle. I'll check if the LFS has any Prazi tomorrow. I am planning on adding more fish, but it's gonna be a few more weeks before I do.
  22. Oh, oops. Sorry for posting in the wrong section. No, I haven't treated for flukes. The coral is already mixed with my sand, and I think it will be a real pain to move it to my filter...
