  1. The water change that i just did was when I changed salt to 0.2 would it be too quick to jump to 0.3?
  2. I just did one 50% water change then added more salt about 30 minutes ago LOL but sure ill do another 2 and dose to 0.3. And no none of my fish have names haha
  3. The temperature of the tank is now 80F and the PH is still at 7
  4. In my filter I have material from my cycled tank and its not too bad, not too gunked up. And its not just that black scale, It is also the black specks showing up around the gills :S
  5. http://s199.beta.photobucket.com/user/RyosaykuX/media/DSC_0199_zps568785f5.mp4.html 0.2% right now and notice the left side of my fish has more black specks than the last video
  6. If more black spots are showing up on my fish does that mean my fish is getting affected by the burn from the salt?
  7. will salt + 0.5 ammonia do more bad than good to my goldfish?
  8. Yes my tap water has always been reading as 0 Ammonia
  9. Does it make sense if my ammonia is still at 0.5 after 2 50% water changes?
  10. So I did the water change and added salt THEN tested my water to find that it was still 0.5... Going to do another 50% change and add back in another 10 teaspoons of kosher salt
  11. And just to make sure, 20 gallon at 0.1 is 20 teaspoons right?
  12. I'm currently performing the water change it just seems like such a waste to check water parameters 5 times a day LOL!
  13. @ bodoba - thank you I will do a water change first. Typically is 50% water change on a 20 gallon quarantine enough to bring 0.6 ammonia down to 0?
  14. Do I salt even if I'm unsure if there is Ich or not?
  15. @bodoba - yeah i read that article haha Guess i'll have to go out to buy some kosher salt tomorrow @ dnalex & jeanna - Thanks for the tips guys ill start doing this tomorrow
  16. I just did a 50% water change. Should be enough to remove the ammonia. Is there a picture with what type of brand salt you use for salting? I have regular table salt but it doesn't have any labels of what ingredients are in there. Also most table salts have anti caking agent mixed in to prevent clumping And won't raising the temperature of my tank be stressful for the fish since goldfish thrive in colder temperatures?
  17. @bodoba - I have a heater that heats up to 78F. and yes how often should I do the water changes?
  18. http://s199.photobucket.com/albums/aa252/RyosaykuX/?action=view&current=DSC_0197.mp4 theres the link for the video guys! The video might be hard to spot the white ish stuff on head and the salt on the tail fin but it was the best i could do :S Sorry if it doesnt help haha

  21. So I bought a new fish on thursday and I set up a quarantine tank for the ryukin. I used cycled filter media from my main tank. So I've noticed my fish either has ick or fungus (couldn't tell it was growing on fins and the head a bit) I just ordered Prazi Pro online and still need to wait for it to come. Should I just leave my fish in there until Prazi gets to me or should I use maracyn since I still have some left over from before?
  22. I did a 50% water change in my 2 tanks today and also purchased a new goldfish to find out it has little bits of fungus growing on the ryukins head ;( put him into a newly set up quarantine tank but no prazi yet :S Should I use maracyn since i have some left? Or wait for my prazi to come?
  23. Oh nooo. So until I purchase a new test kit what can I do?
  24. Well that makes be a lot more relieved haha Thank you guys
  25. should i add it at 5ppm then? since my kit jumps from 2.4 - 4.9
