Also, just to be clear: the fish are free, but should I wind up shipping them the cost for that is on the recipient. They would probably do well in a pond as long as it's protected from birds, and are very friendly! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

The white one is the largest at about 3" total length. I'm not keen on the idea of trying to ship them though. I've never even received fish shipped, let alone tried to do it myself, so I don't really have any idea how to go about it. That's not to say I'm totally opposed, I'd just need explicit, detailed instructions to even consider it... even then I'd be more comfortable if they went home locally. Hi all, been a while since I've been on here. My medical issues have gotten to the point that I can't keep up with my maintenance schedule anymore, so it's time to switch to something a little less intense than goldies. [emoji22] I just lost the last of my adults, and have 4 young fish that were bred (surprised me) in my tank. They need a new home in the Portland Oregon area. I am willing/able to drive some to meet you if need be, but would prefer not to if possible. Thanks! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  4. Something's up not sure what

Just got home, he is gone, thank you all for your concern and attempt to help Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. Mischief had a big spazz attack a little while ago, then seemed to get stuck face down between the glass and some plants. I rescued him, and he seemed fine, went on to other things and mom came to get me, he looked like this: I thought maybe he gut something stuck where it didn't belong, and checked his gills as best I could, but didn't find anything. Eyes are clear, nothing appears swollen, no raised scales. I'm at a loss as to what's up. Can't find the form for a full list of everything needed, but ammonia and nitrIte are 0, nitrAte is 5-10. At anew appointment, and won't be able to get back to this for 60-90 minutes. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. Swollen fish

Good to know, thank you. Also, I offer profuse thanks for your help. We may not have been able to save her, but I greatly appreciate the calm and concise assistance.
  7. Swollen fish

That's just it, we get a LOT of rain here this time of year, and most of our storm drains go to streams, with fish. Not knowing what killed her, I'm hesitant to take the (admittedly small) risk it could get to the local fish population.
  8. Swollen fish

Oh, also... recommendations on the best... ahh... disposal, method? I don't feel right putting her in the trash, but I'm not really sure what else to do.
  9. Swollen fish

Ok, so now the initial shock is passing... and I'm really curious what it actually was that made her swell so badly, is there any way to really know?
  10. Swollen fish

Opened QT to check on her today, she's gone. She was the one I was most attached to, my secret favorite, of my original goldies, she was the only one I had picked. There will be a BIG empty spot in the tank without her.

Ok, opened up QT to switch buckets for her w/c, and found her like this... She CAN right herself, but has to work hard at it and prefers not to. I also noticed a spot on her belly that looks sort-of like a busted blood vessel, but I'm not really sure what it is: Her spine also seems to be curving upwards, ii looks like maybe just because her belly is so swollen, and it has to, but again I'm not sure: that bump between her head and dorsal isn't usually so pronounced. I feel like she is more swollen overall, but her eyes look better, not sure what to do. Continuing with the w/c for now, if I hear anything back before I sleep, I'll try to get it done. I don't think I could handle her being dead when I wake up... she hasn't been eating either. I also noticed when I picked her up to switch buckets, that her belly is VERY soft. I touched it very lightly, but it felt like I could poke my finger through without even noticing. I've been as gentle as I possibly can be every time I've moved her, so I don't think my handling has done harm, but all the fight seems to have gone out of her.
  12. Swollen fish

Kind of what I figured, it's not like it's coming off in massive quantities.
  13. Swollen fish

Ok, morning update... her eyes are just about back to normal, they'll probably be there tomorrow. Her body is still very round, I really don't see any difference there. I have noticed, however, that she seems to be shedding a fair bit of slime coat. It isn't enough that I'm seriously worried at this point, but then I'm not really sure if I should be. It's MAYBE 1/2 tsp every 12 hrs or so... is this enough that I ought to be concerned, or just something to be expected at this point?

On another note, her eyes are looking much better today. They still have a pale ring around them, but they aren't bulging out like a creepy clown anymore.

    Awesome, meds going in now
