  1. Thanks! Will any local pet store have crushed coral?
  2. I just got two baby rubber nose plecos. The algae was starting to take over my tank since my common pleco died. I had him for 3 1/2 years and he died of bloat. I read that they need drift wood to aid in their digestion. The only problem is that I have also read that putting driftwood in my goldfish tank will cause PH problems. How do I accommodate my plecos and goldfish?
  3. I just got back from my local pet store and thank the Lord they had hinged glass tops!!!!! It was $40 total for both of the hinged glass lids but well worth it! Thank you all for giving me ideas just in case I couldn't find what I was looking for
  4. Here are the pics of my tank. here is where the water is hitting here is the bar I was talking about Where could I go to get plexiglass cut to fit it? Lowes?
  5. I finally got my 65 gallon tall (not 75 gal. as I was told by the seller ) and I am having a problem. The hood was hand made out of wood and it doesn't have the usual plastic hood that normally comes with an aquarium. I will check with my local pet shops for a 65 gallon tall aquarium hood. The problem is that the water is splashing up onto the lighting wetting the light and a little bit of the wooden hood. Is there a cheap way to fix this without spending a lot of money on a hood? There is a plastic divider at the top of the middle of the tank and the measurements between that space is 17" x 11". So my guess is that I would need to get two hoods or two of something to cover over the gaps so that water doesn't soak the light and the wooden hood. Any creative suggestions are welcome! Thanks! I will try to post pics later of what I am talking about for those of whom I did not make any sense to. I kinda didn't make sense to myself!
  6. Thanks! I can't wait to get started on my project!!
  7. I am not sure if the Fu Dog is hollow or not. I am bidding on it on Ebay. If it is hollow, how do I go about packing it up?
  8. A penguin, do you mean that the Fu Dog won't be considered safe if I paint the resin over it?
  9. The fu dog I am eyeing is made of porcelain so would that work? Also, what do you mean by cure it?
  10. Thanks so much! I'm gonna pick out my Fu dog now
  11. I PM'd Lynda but haven't gotten a response yet. Does anyone know what type of resin paint I would need to paint over an ornament I wish to put in my tank? I read the thread that J-pond gave me but I still have questions. I want to buy a ceramic Fu Dog to put in my tank and I understood that I could paint over it with resin to keep it from being toxic. Can someone help me on what I need to get to do this? Thanks!
  12. Okay, I will look for a different fu dog to put in my tank. What exactly would be safe? There are a lot of fu dog statues made from ceramic, marble and stone but I have no clue if any of those would be appropriate to put in my tank. I certainly would not jeopordize my fishies health. I don't want to spend more than $30 either on a fu dog. Is there a way to cure something I want to put in the tank?
  13. I am having trouble finding the Top Fin Fu Dog ornament. I was wondering exactly what type of ornaments are safe or dangerous to put in my tank. Here is a link of a Fu Dog that I am looking at. Is the material it is made out of safe? http://www.garden-fountains.com/Detail.bok?no=4198
  14. I got a ranchu and a ryukin from Ken on the goldfish auction and he is very nice! The two fish I got are extremely healthy and beautiful. He ships them overnight and the shipping cost isn't too bad either!
