Hi There, Just came by to support Koko's forum and enter the ECR raffle. Koko's has been around for ever and is a great resource. I moderate over on reddit.com/r/goldfish and spend most of my time on the facebook goldfish council chat. I am slowly backing away from social media presence because I am sick of it. Most of my fish adventures are documented on my instagram page. happyluckyfishclub. That started as a side hustle importing bettas but I really hated trying to make a business out of my hobby so I stopped. I am in this hobby for the fish, I really like the rare varieties and want to keep them around for posterity. I breed azuma nishiki, tosakin, veil tails, oranda, blue egg phoenix and guppies. I keep some other varieties around as pets. I'll poke around the forums for a bit and see whats what. I love this hobby and for some reason the goldfish just can't get the respect they deserve. Cheers.

Went to a park with Justine, they had a bunch of booths there. One of them was a pet shop I go to abou 30 mins away. They recognize me as the goldfish lady. Lol they had a ball toss to win a free fish. So I figured why not, on the first shot I get the ball in the cup. So now I have a voucher for a free killifish. Lol Justine has been bugging me about a Betts, so I guess this is just as good. Lol So I will have soon, 2 adult goldfish, about 20 fry and now a killifish.

Yeah same for me. I checked in for like, a day over a year ago but it’s been a good 2+ years since I’ve consistently been on here. Been busy! Lol got married, moved twice, lost a baby, adopted a cat, now having a baby! Soo much. Sorry things have been rough! We have definitely had highs and lows. 2 days after we came back from our honeymoon we were evicted and then my husband was fired from his job 3 months later. But things are good now! It all works out in the end [emoji177][emoji170] Edited to add; I have a tendency to over share [emoji1787] sorry lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am selling some tropical water lily tubers and very small potted starts locally this weekend. Would like your opinions on a reasonable price... I have more of some types than others and some are big and some are small (but in the end will all produce a flowering plant). I’m thinking between $4-7, reasonable? I do want to get rid of them. Ebay has tropical tubers going for about $15 (including shipping). The purple is King if Siam (day bloomer), the pinks are Mrs George C Hitchcock and Celon Pink (both night bloomers).

Draw a gallon of water from your tap. Read and record the pH. 1) Add a measured amount of baking soda, like 1 teaspoon. 2) Record the amount of baking soda you added. 3) When the baking soda is fully dissolved, read and record the pH. Repeat 1, 2, and 3 until the pH reaches the desired level. If you add up the amount of baking soda you put in the water, you will know how much baking soda you must add for each gallon of water in your tank.

Okay some updates...... Half of the fry went out in the pond. This half is awaiting a kiddy swimming pool.

My LFS is pretty good... they go through a quarantine/deworming process when they arrive and then put on the floor after two weeks, sometimes up to a month. After I purchased them, I had them isolated and did my own additional quarantine for another 2 weeks. I know we typically recommend a month here, but I trust my LFS for health and quality, their fish are top notch. Took a risk! Everyone looks pretty happy and healthy

Hi Koko. I will never forget that you saved my Blacky. I will be eternally grateful. His recovery was a miracle. Remember he lost all his scales on one side and you suggested colloidal silver. All his scales grew back. And you would not be able to tell something ever happened to him unless I told you. Yes. His wee friend is Jaffa. He used to be white / orange and lost all his colouring. He is actually a rescue. One of the girls on this forum rescued him and his sister from her clients. I had a spare tank so took them in. Unfortunately his sister was disabled. They broke her tail and she could only swim with her pelvic fins. So she sadly passed 2 years ago. I also used to have a beautiful yellow comet. She was Blacky's partner and as far as I know perfectly healthy. But I introduced Jaffa to her tank because I didn't want him to be alone. And right away he bullied and chased her around the tank. I took him back out. But I think her heart couldn't take it. Because she passed the same day. Since then it has thankfully been smooth sailing. So far. I recently relocated from London to Yorkshire. That is a 4 hour drive. So we moved the fish. In gigantic 42 litre buckets. And it worked. They are fine. But my filter bacteria have taken a bit if a hit. So going through a mini cycle at the moment. Lots and lots of water changes.

I have an empty 20 gallon that I keep on hand as a hospital/quarantine tank. I set it up when needed. I move a sponge filter from my main tank to my hospital tank for aeration/media, but I normally do daily water changes for that tank anyways. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The adults are doing better now. 😁

You could do totes with a sponge filter for them. You found also place an add on Craigslist or forums like this. Maybe give them away to someone that has a pond?

Don't have any right now. I'll get some tomorrow when I'm home. It's made to be in a headboard for a bed. Maybe some big schools of little fish? The lady that gave it away said she had cichlids in it. But I don't think it would be good for it. Sent from my SM-S767VL using Tapatalk

Cool clouds! Thunderstorms are my absolutely favorite part of the Midwest. I’ve never lived where they happen frequently and it’s been wonderful. Watching the weather shift and change here is fantastic.

@Acro they really are so tiny but I swear I see them growing by the day. I really should start weighing them. Everyone is thrilled with the blood worms and scarfles them down so quickly 😍

I misread your first topic and I thought I was responding to Mikey [emoji1787][emoji1787] I knew you were significantly older than me [emoji2356] (totally my bad, pregnancy brain and all that) But yeah you’ve been through a lot! I’m glad things are starting to get better. I think last I was on you’d just gotten a pup; do you still have him? [emoji846] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

All my boys do, which is a total coincidence. They just happen to be the ones we like best that both my husband and I agree on 😆 All my girls have variations on flower names, also an accidental theme! And if we have another baby my lists look similar - we could end up with a Samuel or Violet. Or I could be done forever, because the whole six kids in ten years thing was crazycakes! My two little guys both have December birthdays (only a few days before Christmas) and I have to say it wasn’t a bad tome to be pregnant. It stunk a little in the NICU because half the specialists were gone on Christmas vacation, but for everything else it was a nice time of year to give birth. I also had no trouble just staying cloistered at home for a few weeks, since I could use ‘sickness!’ and ‘holidays!’ as my excuse. With my spring and summer kids everyone seemed to expect me to show my face at church again like the next week. How have you been feeling so far, in terms of symptoms? Super tired?
  42. 1 point
The very same! He’s not so tiny anymore - they grow fast! I happen to be very fond of your name choice for soooome reason 🤔😁

    You!!!! Oh no way Congratulations😁😊

They do like the water ph in the 7.2 to 8.0, and stable. So make sure your kh is up there so your ph will be stable. I wouldn't worry about a sponge filter as these guys can't destroy plants like goldfish can lol
  45. 1 point
I think in general it's getting hard to find pest free goldfish😯. That's is great that you have saved them. It's crazy that people think that goldfish can live like that. 😣
  46. 1 point
They aren't toxic, but they have a very small surface area to volume ratio. You can make a good filter out of pots. A tub like this is cheap and has an excellent surface area to volume ratio. This gives the fish lots of swimming area and excellent gas exchange at the surface.

Yes, lesson learned!! I really loved the fish, but as I've only ever had tropical, I'm learning as I go. I hate that it was my fault and I could of easily had my oranda still happily swimming. I won't be getting anymore until I get my 450 long, which I think is better for orandas anyway. Then any first sign of an issue, I will be first on this site with test results, size, filter, issue etc. Promise!
