Today I Went To My Favorite Lfs And.....

715 posts in this topic

Here's a thread I thought would be fun to keep going...everyone likes to hear what you got at your LFS. I've seen this done on other sites and everyone has fun keeping it going.

I'll lead off but I didn't go to my LFS, I went online and purchased three AquaClear 110's for my upcoming 120 gallon tank!

I searched every LFS nearby until I finally found one that had those tiny circular filter pads for filtering the air before it gets pumped through a Rena air pump. Those are tough to find!

...I bought some micro-lift special blend, free standing thermometer, and a media bag.

... I bought some frozen bloodworms and had to tear myself away from the tank of red and white telescopes.

I went to my LFS and browsed last time. I drooled over the nice huge tanks. Swung by the goldie corner and wispered hello to them. Checked out the selection of froozen foods. Looked at Aquaclear parts and media bags, Also priced the smaller AC for my tropical tank. Priced the test kits and replacement test tubes. Thats about it that visit. It was hard not to buy anything but I must restrain myself at times.

Went to Pet--co recently and they had a new shipment of little fancy goldfish. One tiny oranda captured my attention because he was pure white with a perfect heart shaped red cap on his head!! It was going to be the cutest wen ever I'm sure and it was all I could do to leave him there. I simply don't have the room to properly take care of another gf--already have a common and what looks like a common/comet. But anyway that heart was just toooo precious!!

It wasn't my LFS but it was my next favorite... DrsFosterandSmith.com!!! They delivered me the best box of goodies! Shoulder high rubber gloves, Saki-Hikari food (thank you Kokos for the suggestion!), 2 large boxes of aquarium salt and a large bottle of Melafix! You would have thought I had received a designer pair of shoes in that box! LOL!

...I didn't buy anything because I refuse to spend that much on filter media! They did have some cute white fantails/young orandas (they were labelled as orandas but were too young for wen and this is a chain store...).

They told me they were going to get a shipment of new goldies in that never get sick, never grow up and never die. I asked if they were plastic. rofl3.gif

i recently went to get more brine shrimp, I also stuck my face up to the glass looking at some gorgeous yellow and black koi, then I saw a HUGE mostly blue/silver oranda that's been there for almost 2 months blink.gif at a lovely 30.00$ (price reduced)

Well, i didn't go to my favourite fish shop, but I did go to a fish shop. I went for a new gravel cleaner, but they only had the small ones in so I got some stress coat which i also needed. I went back a few hours later to buy a thermometer, a filter sponge and some blood worms (never bought blood worms before ^_^).

...had to exchange the thermometer I bought the other day as the mercury never rose making it defective and needing to be replaced.

Wasn't my fave store, just a chain branch... but I bought pellets for the first time, and BOY were my goldies confused! :whatjust: They didn't know how to eat them at first... was quite funny watching them swim around the tank gulping away trying to eat, and missing EVERYTHING for a min or two, lol

Today I Went To My Favorite Lfs And.....

found that the Eheim I bought was on sale at a much reduced price here :(

I had bought the Eheim from the LFS' sister shop, and for what I paid for the 2215, I could've gotten a 2217 by just topping up a few bucks more.

I went to a random online place and bought 2 weighted airlines (no more nasty sucker cups for me!) and some filter sponge :) Think I need to get my post redirected when I move for a month or so just incase I miss any parcels...

I went to the least rubbish lfs in my area :) and bought 2 plants, and also bumped into an old friend I hadn't seen in ages. There was also some gorgeous red and white orandas...

I have yet to find a lfs I really like... I want to go to a MASSIVE one that's just for fish or something.

You ever find yourself in the Guildford area, get down to Maidenhead Aquatics in Horsley, they're pretty good, I got Mariko and Red from there. ;)

OMG,I get almost everything online, but the last time I went,it was to get some 'VitaChem' to put in my betta tanks for torn fins. I called all over beforehand and could only find it at 1 place,so- :gcar:

I went to my once favorite store today. Last week I checked out their goldies and was a little sad by the state of them. Went back this week to buy prazi from them and checked out the goldies again. This is what I found:

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i147/viper_aka_snipefisher/fish/Sad.jpg

Everyone was either bottom sitting or gasping for air at the top. There was a gorgeous ryukin in the tank above them but I wasn't about to risk my fish for it or support this store. They used to have this great teenager that knew EVERYTHING about fish and took excellent care of them but he went off to college. They did have the prazi though and I had to buy it as the preventative.

Went to a fish store today, didn't buy anything, would have liked some more plants and they did have some nice ryukins. Maybe sometime soon I'll get everything sorted.

Just went on their website and discovered they have one in Brighton yay!! I never knew it was there, I wonder if its new. When I go back to uni I'm definitely paying a visit. The only draw back is its up a HUGE hill so I'd have to get the bus there, which is a rip off, but oh well :)
