  1. About a month ago. The goldfish and axolotls are on the same 3 month schedule, neither canister gets too gross during that period.
  2. I started on the parasite meds due to there being no improvement whatsoever with the Metro and Kanaplex and wanting to cover all my bases. The ingredients aren't listed on the bottle, I'll have to go digging the internet to see if I can find them listed somewhere since the foods no longer made. The 46G is 36x18", only a couple inches taller than a 40 breeder. The sponge is only running the QT since my spare HOB broke, the main tank has a 550GPH canister. No W/C has been done on the QT yet, doing it today. I had to wait until after the 3rd dose of Kanaplex before doing it. The fish are about 3-4" without fins. They were QT'd for 4 weeks with me, and Ken from Dandy Orandas when I spoke with him said he has had them since last fall. Feeding every other day is due to my crazy current work schedule (finally changing, thank god). Once I'm not working a load of overtime and have some extra time to spend with the tanks, feeding will go back to being daily. Main Tank. Scuse the algae/water level, water change day is today. QT Tub
  3. Tank looks fantastic! I've been on a big zoa/mushroom kick recently. I should probably get some pics of my nano uploaded onto here, now that I think about it.
  4. Hey all! Seems like I'm going through my yearly period where my tank/fish have issues again. First, I lost my big guy Picasso and my large black telescope out of the blue. Bottom sitting one day, gone the next. Alice and Maury, my lemonhead oranda and black ranchu, were totally uneffected. Left the tank alone for a month or so (aside from water changes), and about a month ago purchased a couple butterfly telescopes from Dandy Orandas (Woo!). Now one of those newbies has been showing some pineconing, and since it's been quite some time since I've had to deal with that I want to make sure I have my ducks in a row. I noticed signs of the pineconing last week (May 6), and moved him into the QT bin the next day. Started with Metroplex and Kanaplex the same day, and just administered the 3rd dose tonight. Epsom salt went in last night (1/2 tsp for 20G), as I had forgotten about adding epsoms until I found the box on my search for the medicated food (also started yesterday, found a bottle at work after loosing mine). Pictures : May 6 vs Last night. Am I forgetting anything? Or has anything regarding the methods used to treat the underlying causes of pine coning/dropsy changed? * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) ~20 * Ammonia Level(Tap)0 * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrate level(Tap) 0 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 6.8 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 6.8 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? 5. Unfortunatly,I just went to check on her, and she was gone already. I would still like to know what else could have been done in this situation, should it happen again. Should I have brought her home sooner?
  6. Hello! Long time since I've been here, but I'm now tackling something I've never dealt with before and could use some help. A little backstory: Last January, I was hired at my favorite LFS, and became manager there in August. Recently we hired a new guy, who usually gets stuck doing all the jobs nobody else wants to/feels like doing, such as water changes. This past Monday, I had said coworker doing weekly water changes on our goldfish tanks,75%. I was helping a customer, and didn't think too much of it when I heard him say "oh sh--", figured he just spilled prime on himself or over drained the tank. Fast forward to Tuesday night, I was doing the closing time health checks, and noticed one of our smaller butterfly telescopes was missing not one, but both eyes, and that her mouth was hanging open. I immediately scooped her into a hanging breeder net to keep the other fish from picking on her, salted the tank, and let my boss know. I mentioned the Tele to that coworker the next day, and before I even asked if he knew what happened he was vehemently denying being responsible, which painted guilt all over himself. My other coworker, who has a bit of a crude sense of humor, dubbed her Helen when I mentioned it to him. Yesterday, Thursday, 2 days after I found her, I decided to bring her home to make sure she got the best treatment I could give her without unnecessarily medicating the rest of the fish in the system at the store. Feel free to use metric units, I didn't use both systems here to keep things compact. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) 0 * Ammonia Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrate level(Tap) 0 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.0, Gh/kh currently unknown. I'll dig out those test kits after dinner. * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 6.0. Tap is cut with RO for the QT tank. Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API master liquid * Water temperature? currently 69F. Will probably add a heater later tonight, and bring it to 72-75F. * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 10G QT tank, set up last night. * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Deep blue 10G sponge filter, run off a tetra whisper 40, no flow valve. * How often do you change the water and how much? Will be doing 50% every few days, or as ammonia becomes present, unless medication prevents it. * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Tank set up last night,100% new water. * How many fish in the tank and their size?1, 1.5-2inch * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Well water, which contains around .25ppm copper, dosed with Prime anyways. * What do you feed your fish and how often? Fed frozen bloodworms and my sister shrimp at store on Sunday, has not eaten since. Will be trying frozen brine or bloodworms tonight. * Any new fish added to the tank? just the Tele. * Any medications added to the tank?Voogle Day 2 of 5, just added 1tsp/gal salt * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. She was in a tank at the store that I had added salt 1tsp/gal and seachems stress guard to. She received a Hydroplex dip before going into the QT tank with Voogle last night. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? She's missing both eyes, and now has what looks like fuzzy/wispy things coming out if the sockets, which I'm assuming are the remnants of the eyeball. She also has been having issues closing her mouth all the way, and there appears to be another fleshy looking thing inside that looks like she'll be able to spit out later tonight or tomorrow morning. It moves every time she breathes. I'm tempted to try to grab it with tweezers, but don't want to risk doing more harm. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? At the store she didn't swim much, more so hovering in place facing the back of the tank. Occasionally she'd swim around. Last night after moving to the QT she swam for a bit, then bottom sat until morning, when she swam/ hovered for a bit. She's now floating at the surface tilted a little sideways. I'll try to get decent pictures after dinner, I hadn't wanted to turn a bright light on her in case she could still see that and freak her out even more. For now I have a short video I posted to Instagram last night of her. https://instagram.com/p/BEfEmgTS0-o/
  7. FINALLY got these videos uploaded. I've been at work most of the past days, and they were refusing to upload on my phone. First is from Tuesday, second is from about 10 minutes ago.
  8. Hello guys! I comptely forgot I had posted here with work being crazy. D: Being manager at a fish store really drains you. Anywho, I've done a couple large water changes since, so the nitrates are back under control. I do have a video I'll work on iploading now. Funny story about duckweed. I got a massive bag from work that somebody brought in, and it was gone from the tank in 3 days. Didn't seem to change much. He's refused to eat peas the past could days. His belly is feeling more hard than squashy.
  9. Hello again folks! It's been a long while since I've been here, but unfortunatly my return isn't a good one. My youngest goldfish, Goldie, whom I've had for about 9 months now, isn't doing the greatest. So, onto story time. Two weeks ago, I ran out of my main staple food, New Eras Goldfish Pellets. In the meantime, I fed them some of the ProGold I had left over(which I've since thrown out because I'm fairly certain its expired) until I could grab some new food from work. The New Era got back ordered, so I grabbed some Hikari Lionhead, figuring I'd switch them over. Three days after, Goldie started floating and curling at the top of the tank. Finally got the New Era back, thinking it was the food causing the floating. Switching back helped for a bit, but she went back to floating a couple days after that. I've tried fasting and peas to no avail. Today is the fourth day with Epsom salt, no change, with a huge (80%) change happening tonight to remove it. Short of dosing metro and kana plex, I've run out of ideas aside from a swim bladder problem which I'm praying is not the case. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank)0 * Nitrite Level(Tank)0 * Nitrate level(Tank)60 * Ammonia Level(Tap)0 * Nitrite Level(Tap)0 * Nitrate level(Tap)0 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)6.8 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)6.4 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? aPI drops * Water temperature? 64F avaerage * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 29G, 4+ years * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Concorde 180, 280 GPH * How often do you change the water and how much? I try to do 80% weekly, my work hours sometimes get in the way. * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 20th, 80% * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2, 4" fantail(Picasso), 3" fantail (Goldie) On mobile, and half the form didn't copy. No recent additions. Epsom salt for 4 days, Prazi pro 6 months ago No external signs aside from the floating and bending.
  10. Thanks so much guys! Keep 'em coming! And of course I'll show you guys when I'm done.
  11. Hey folks! I'm currently working on an art project designing tattoo flash, and of course I had to include goldfish in there somehow. I have a full sheet (8-10ish designs, roughly) that will be dealing directly with koi and the pond-variety goldfish, and could use some inspirations! Pose-wise I'm sticking with a lot of the traditional Japanese styles, but I could use some inspirations for colors! So, let me see your single-tails and your koi! I'll be sure to let you know if any of your goldies have inspired my designs.
  12. You're using Seachem Metronidazole, correct? The package should say "repeat every 2 days until symptoms disappear". Correct. Just looked at the package again, and indeed it does say that. I'm not sure how I got to thinking it didn't have that, or maybe I just got it mixed up with the Kanaplex or something. D:
  13. Metro was only dosed on the 8th. I saw nothing on the package about repeated doses, and never having used it before, didn't know. I shall adjust the dosage schedule accordingly.
  14. So the Metro has been in since the 8th, so today is the 5th day of it. Kanaplex went in on the 6th, and the 3rd dose was on the 10th. Epsom since the 4th(day 9). They're due for a W/C today, because thanks to school and work I haven't had time to change it since(though daily extra doses of Prime have been done, probably 3x dose, and the parameters have been in check.). Nickel isn't on the bottom anymore, she's more belly up or butt-up, but she is more active than before. Also, her back end/belly isn't really flat anymore. Goldie appeared to have her cysts disappearing, but they came back and I haven't seen her scales go down much if at all. I'm not sure what to do next. Should I replace the Epsom after the W/C today? And should the Kanaplex be continued after the 3 doses they've already gotten?
  15. Add the Metronidazole. I think both Goldie and Nickel would benefit from a combination of Metronidazole And Kanaplex. Alright. Should I move Nickel into the QT along with Goldie, then,to prevent having Pic treated when he doesn't need to be?
